I was driving down hwy 75. there was a little jolt from the engine, I looked at the panel, the needle was on H. there was no other warning. the car was taken to five star Nissan in warner robins, ga. they said the head gasket blew. the engine was not repairable, they also said because I did not have the coolant flushed time before last oil change and service, it was my fault. the last oil change was done in Macon by a Nissan dealer. everything was fine by them. they did not mention problems with the coolant or that it needed to be flushed. I was told the coolant should last 100,000 miles. this car was serviced before the due time. the manager at Nissan told me a re-furbished engine with 28,000 miles would cost me 6,000 to replace my blown engine. I had no choice but to fix the car. Nissan would not pay for the engine nor back their product. my warranty expired two months after five years. it cost me over 2,000 in labor to have the engine replaced. it took them two days to replace the engine. it was as if there was an engine sitting in the corner waiting to be used. I loved this car, they way it drove, the smooth ride, now I am scared to drive it on a long distance trip. the rear end is roaring, has been for over a year, but the mechanics tell it is the back tires, they need replacing. the tires were like new, even now. I hope this helps people make up their mind about Nissan, it has mine. from now on, I will buy a Honda.

Murano

  • CVT transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Car started blowing white smoke intermittently upon start up, it had about 50 k miles on it then. Took it to a couple mechanics over a six month period to have it checked out. No one could find the problem. Kept driving it but it would lose power occasionally and gas mileage was terrible. White smoke was still intermittent but occurring more often.

Service engine light came on at 68K miles. I took it to Auto zone and had them run the codes, which were camshaft and crankshaft problems. I took it to a Nissan dealer and Nissan told me I really needed a new engine due to the gunk build up in the engine due to oil and coolant mixing. The cost would be over $5000.00 for a used low mileage engine.
