2008 Nissan Rouge airbag sensor light came on. Reset it several times but continued to come back on. Took the vehicle to a local Nissan dealership for a diagnosis as there was a recall on this particular year. VIN was not included in the recall even though the exact issue matches the recall. Dealership diagnosed and quoted over $2000 for parts and labor for the fix. Opened a complaint with Nissan USA and was denied. They said the vehicle was out of warranty, tough luck. Airbag light continually flashes on the dash and the airbag light is illuminated.

Rogue Slawd

  • CVT transmission

At first, I loved the Nissan Rogue SL AWD. I loved the feeling of safety having all wheel drive in south Florida weather where it's wet summer or winter, but not even into the first year we started having CVT transmission problems (actually 18 months in, the CVT transmission totally froze up) the stealership said the CVT sensor had malfunctioned. My nephew, at that time worked for Saturn and had his service manager take a look at my Rogue, and said the transmission fluid 'looked like sticky molasses' and couldn't believe this car was still running. (at this point less than 3000 miles on the odometer) He had the trans. fluid flushed and replaced and my car felt like new again. The feeling was short lived as soon after, the TPMS light came on--and my tires had perfect pressure! My Rogue is less than 3 years old and they're telling me the sensors need to be replaced, at $158.00 each! (I looked online for the same sensors and found them for $38.00) From that time it was the usual maintenance issues, but then at around 60-70K miles, the driveshaft had to replaced! ($1,040.00) The stealership said that this is not covered under "Powertrain Warranty" (which goes to 100,000 miles) because the 'powertrain' stops at the transmission. Which is why it was totally f*cked up, when only 2 months later (after replacing the driveshaft) the rear differential goes bad (seems like a pattern here) for another $1,725. Then in 2015 we got the airbag recall notice and brought the Rogue to the stealership that we bought it from. The invoice says they installed a "Harness Protector" (bs) At 93,000 miles the CVT transmission completely failed, and AutoNation was forced to replace my CVT transmission under warranty. Now, at 103,000 miles, after all warranty's have run out, and the airbag fiasco has been brushed under the table, they want to charge me $1700 to replace THE ENTIRE RIGHT PASSENGER SEAT to fix the airbag problem THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED IN 2015 !!! This LAST visit was today 11/16/17. I have owned 3 Nissans over the years* (Datsun 280Z counts) and will NEVER buy one again ^^^^^^ v mic drop

Rogue SX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

Last July my 2008 Nissan Rogue the airbag light came on and was blinking non-stop. From researching the matter online, it seems that many 2007-2008 Nissan vehicles were recalled for a faulty sensor in the passenger seat that cannot detect when anyone is sitting in that seat - in other words, not an issue with the airbag but with the seat sensor. However, the Nissan dealership says my VIN number is not included in this recall, although our issue matches what is described in the recall and pertains to our year vehicle. Car will not pass VA State inspection w/ the light blinking and Nissan says it requires replacing seat cushion to fix cost: $2,000.
