I purchased a 2012 Nissan Rogue SX with approximately 40,000 miles on it last year. It now has about 44,000 miles. About a month ago, the passenger airbag warning light started coming on indicating that the passenger airbags were off. I took the car to Westside Nissan in Jacksonville Florida to have it fixed. The manager spoke with me after having his technicians test and look at the problem and was told I had to have the entire seat replaced at a cost of $2,600.00! He advised that the sensor inside the seat could not be replaced - and that the entire seat would have to be replaced. His advice was to try and purchase a used seat from a junk yard - or try and purchase one on my own on the internet. My research indicates that Nissan had a recall for this same problem for vehicles manufactured in 2013. Personally, I believe the recall should be inclusive of models manufactured in 2012 since so many have been reported with the same problem.

With regard to the airbag on the passenger side--the airbag warning light comes on every time I place a package weighing over 10lbs on that seat, or when my grandson sits on it--he weighs about 130 lbs, it comes on. This happened every day last week when I transported him someplace. I have not done anything about it yet.

Airbag light started blinking. Took it Nissan dealer, after diagnosis he said it would cost $1600 dollars to replace the air bag sensor. It is not covered under warranty. This car has less than 36,000 miles and should be under warranty, but the dealer would not fix it. It is dangerous to drive!! It should be under recall.

Why would a safety module fail after purchasing the car new in September, 2013. Also purchased an extended warranty at the time which dealer advises won't cover this safety issue. The dealer advises that the airbags will not deploy on the passenger side. This is ridiculous. What good is a warranty if it won't cover a safety problem? I would like more info on how many airbag modules are failing and the cause. Meanwhile what am I to do. I cannot afford to have paid $1,637 on a contract to extend the warranty only to find out it is worthless. Should I just buy a Chevy? or Ford? I want my family to be safe but cannot afford to put that much out on a fixed income. Dealer advises they will order the part for $1,500. The coverage plan was Advantage Preferred. Preferred for what? SCAM. Most warranties are. Just a way to get more money.
