Took the car in for some recall work, at which time the Nissan tech informed me that my alternator "was about to die." I've never taken a dealership technician at his word before, so I said thanks and brought the car into my preferred third-party repair shop. They confirmed that the alternator was dying and also was likely the cause of the recent total battery failure (not a brand new battery but under 2 years old). NO third-party alternators fit into the grooves Nissan had made, so I had to shell out over $700 for a Nissan official alt. Not pleased at all.
