The exhaust flange rusted through and I had to have it cut and have a new piece welded in.

Guess it's me. Everyone has a " thing" that is always an issue. For me, it's my cars' exhaust. My last truck was an issue as well. ( though a different make). I started noticing a weird rattling noise, which just kept getting worse. I had my brother look at it when he was home on leave ( he's a crew master for planes in the Marines, I trust him more than most!), he said a coupling or something had broken. When he came home this summer again, the whole muffler is now needing to be replaced. So basically all of the underneath exhaust/muffler parts have broken or rusted to the point of breaking. Wth!

On a long road trip I noticed my exhaust was really loud when I stopped at a toll both, so I got off at the next exit to see what was going on. I crawled under the car and could see the exhaust pipe was broken just after the flange that connects the muffler to the rest of the exhaust (behind the left rear tire). Brought the car to Nissan figuring that it would be covered under the extended bumper to bumper warranty and was told that it was a corrosion issue and would not be covered. They told me they could replace the exhaust for $900. or have the flange cut out and just weld in a straight pipe for $100. Had them fix it the cheap way and enjoyed the rest of our trip.

A few days later my wife got a call from her best friend who owns the same car, she was complaining that her exhaust was really loud. Ended up being the same place that had rusted out and broke.
