Sentra 2.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 45,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Driving to Flagstaff, middle of night, from Santa Fe.

Sometime between 5-7am, the car slowed down and stopped and would not start again. Towed to Nissan in Flagstaff. Informed that we needed a new transmission at 45,000 miles.

I stayed in Flagstaff for 3 days. They said they had to get a new transmission from somewhere else. Charged us $3000. Mind you, it's still under warranty. So 76,000 miles later I need a new transmission.

Update from Oct 19, 2019: Failure at 45,000 miles, a new transmission. Then a failure at 76,000 miles action pending. I am going to the Attorney General office for advice.

  • CVT transmission

My 2008 Nissan CVT is going out, with a grinding sound. I have a family 3 kids and a wife. My daughter has autism. This is a danger to drive. I'm afraid the transmission will go at any minute. This could cause a crash and hurt or kill my family. The driver side door window does not go down, but the others do. The air balance light will not go off and the tire are to the correct pressure.

Also the air sensor is giving a code, not sure with bank yet. I will try to update. What transmission fluid should I use to make the cvt last? And what is the best additive for the slipping(Im using bars cvt anti slip at the moment with Valvoline cvt oil ? Do you have any suggestions to make this last longer with the best oil, and additive, or a transmission. I just bought the car to save gas because it keeps going up. Thank you for your help. Garry

Sentra 2.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 117,000 miles

After the 1st replacement and with 76,000 miles on the new transmission, it is failing. 2 mechanics said I have about a month before it fails completely. They said drive under 40mph, short trips. I have NO money to fix this problem. This car was given to me In January of this year. It had a blown engine which I replaced with a used 40,000 mile one which runs great. I thought with a transmission with about 70,000 miles I was in good shape. HA! CAN I SUE NISSAN?

Sentra

  • CVT transmission
  • 95,000 miles

I purchased a used 2008 Nissan Sentra Made in Mexico as I am currently residing in the Dominican Republic

The Transmission is a CVT, there is an existing extended warranty but the authorized dealer down here says it is only for USA models. I have already spent money on this transmission and less than 3 months the transmission blew again, I was driving in the highway and the car would not accelerate after it was making a noise like an airplane turbine, as a result of the vehicle not accelerating and slowly stopping on the highway I moved the steering wheel to the right as to get out with the little speed left on it and a car hit me on the side because I could not accelerate the vehicle due to a CVT transmission failure. I have called Nissan Corporate Nissan USA the Authorized Nissan Dealer in the Dominican Republic and everyone refuses to take responsibility. The last thing I got was a number to Nissan Mexico where I have to pay over a dollar a minute and I have not being able to get an agent on the line yet. I cant go to work, I cant afford to pay over a thousand dollars to repair this vehicle due to a faulty CVT transmission that has an extended warranty that no one seems to want to honor. I am frustrated I feel like crying everytime I think about all the phone calls I have made and how everyone refuses to assist me. Does anyone have any information that can be of help, I am truly desperate at this point.

Sentra 2.0 4 Cylinder

  • Automatic transmission
  • 123,000 miles

On a long trip car just shut down. Thank God I have AAA or I would have had to pay a fortune to have it towed. Dealer said it overheated and burned up, that the computer shut the car off for the safety of the transmission. Ha, ha, didn't do much saving, just left me stranded on the interstate. The funniest thing is Nissan had sent me a letter saying that they had extended the transmission warranty to 120k because they had so much confidence in their CVT transmission. I'm at 123k, them bastards. I'm out $1500, will be trading it in when it's fixed and not for a Nissan.
