CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2017 Nissan Sentra has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data from the earlier model years in this same 7th generation Sentra.

In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Sentra owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

Was driving home from work which is no longer than a 5 minute drive. It was heavy rain outside. About 2 minutes from my home, my low tire light went on. Very soon after my tire went flat. I pulled to the curb in front of my home. The tire rolled off my car and the rim hit the ground, destroying the rim. My Sentra is a 2015 with 9000 miles on it, well maintained. How does this happen. Should this be a warranty item or recall? repairs fro rim and tire came to $600.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Sentra equipped with Bridgestone turanza el 400 tires, size: P205/55R16. While driving 30 mph, the tire pressure warning light illuminated and the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The contact pulled to the roadside and exited the vehicle to observe the tires. The contact mentioned that the front passenger side rim and tire were severely damaged. The rim and tire were replaced with a spare before it was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the tire and rim needed to be replaced. The tire was replaced. The tire was the original equipment. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle and tire failure mileage was 2,000. The dot number was not available.
