Titan with full mfg tow package purchased to tow travel trailer. Titan rated by dealer & mfg to tow 9,400 lbs and gvwr at 14,600 lbs. When towing 8,000 lbs (gvw was 13,500) at 50 mph on flat road, no wind, approx 85 deg F transmission temp rose into danger zone. Weights were confirmed at certified scale. Vehicle taken to dealer with description of problem. Dealer said nothing was wrong with vehicle but tow was too heavy. Mfg agreed with dealer that tow was too heavy after consulting with their engineers. Neither could explain how 8,000 lbs was heavier than 9,600 lbs. Mfg asked if I would agree to a test drive. I agreed but dealer was non responsive and not available. Nothing was done and we were forced to trade trailer for lower weight trailer. We had the same problem in July 2004 on a hill with 6,340 lb (gvw 12,140) tow. I advised mgf again and they refused to do anything.
