burning clutch burning clutch

During the year 2009 we bought a new Nissan Classic X-Trail SUV, model VE:SALLMODE2.5. I was warned that it would not do all the things that my 109 Land Rover can, but was told it was an excellent car for going on the beach. After the first 400 kilometers, we arrived at a seaside resort and stayed there one week. For five consecutive times we went onto the beach with no trouble, we did the same thing when the car had done 4000 kilometers, went on the beach 5 times all ok ,but on the sixth attempt, the car would not start to move off the beach in 4x4 or in Automatic setting, despite the engine was running well, I stopped the car,as a smell of burning could be detected, I asked my wife to exit the car and see if she could spot anything wrong. I started the engine off, but still no movement, my wife said that the wheels were not turning despite the engine running.

A friend came to the rescue and helped the car to roll with some pushing. I took it to the shop where we bought it, for an under 5000 kilometer check and they said that the clutch was the culprit, and could detect a burnt smell, but said it was not too serious, and to carry on driving normally. All went well, until a passenger and self were driving back home on a good asphalt road surface, going up a normal hill for any car, then I noticed that just as we were nearing the top of the hill, the car was sluggish and was not pulling, once over the brow, I noticed that the clutch was no longer working, had to park the car on the hard shoulder and call for a flat base towing vehicle, this happened 10 days later after it had its under 5000 kilometer check, it was on 4,986 kilometers at the time.(After only 4986 kilometers run) we were told it needed a complete clutch kit fitted and were charged for it and the work, which amounted to $548.00 but was told that the new replacement clutch was under guarantee, and the original clutch?

The burnt parts were given to us, and comparing the burnt clutch with my Land Rover 109, 2.250 cc engine, it looked quite trashy, made up of some sort of weaved compressed fibers, as compared with my Rover clutch disk, which is solid like the Rover's brake disks. It gives me the impression that the clutch fiber of the Nissan Classic is too weak for its 2,500cc engine, also the compression spring from the clutch foot pedal is much too soft.

I never ever had to change my Land Rover clutch disk due to burning out in all the 30 years I have had it, only changed it due to wear and tear! You can view the comparison of the two clutch discs at the following URL: http://www.askitsdone.co.uk/~angocho/Xt+LR.html Anyone else having this trouble? Cheers, Anthony.
