This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
C0020 error code. Required replacement of ABS system's HCU (hydraulic control unit). Vehicle's ABS and electronic braking systems warning systems would flash. Loss of cruise control when the warning light came on. Vehicle lacked ABS made especially dangerous in wet road conditions while towing.
ABS hydraulic control unit motor failure, occurred at 25k miles, just outside of 3 year warranty as I bought truck used from a dealer. Intermittent loss of ABS and traction control with no warning, and constant dinging sound while driving as the motor reconnects and disconnects. Currently have 40k miles, have not repaired as from what I-??ve heard from other owners and seen online, the repair is $1000-$2000 depending on dealer, and the repair may only last 25k miles if the part installed is of the same build quality. Many owners have resorted to replacing the ABS pump motor with parts from other makes/models of vehicles, as it seems the Mopar part is dealer-only availability at this point. I have found a dealer source that has a new upgraded part number that I will be ordering from and finally replacing, but I have no hopes that the part will last any longer than others have seen. I am only replacing the part as there is a class action lawsuit pending. My hope is that a safety recall be issued, as this is a prevalent problem in the 2017-2018 Ram trucks.
Vehicle constantly displays -??service electronic braking system-?? message. ABS light will not turn off. Dealer tells me there is nothing they can do for me and they have multiple customers with 2018 RAMs with same issue and replacement parts are not available.
While driving pulling a trailer the service antilock brake system light started to flash on and off sporadically the entire time i was driving. It does it now every time i start the truck. Doing research it's a know problem. The truck has 43k miles. While the light is on the braking is not what it should be for a truck that can haul the loads it's supposed to. Definitely a safety hazard.
The Service Anti-lock Braking System warning lights and audio alarms come on almost constantly at times along with the cruise control failing, a common problem I understand which Dodge Ram has to be aware of. This truck has only 7000 miles on it!

The service electronic brake light and traction control light on my 2018 Ram 2500 keeps going on and off while driving. This started with only 12,048 miles and 6 weeks over my 3 year warranty. Research shows that this is a common issue with 2018 Rams and newer. Thousands of complaints have been reported and there are several Class Action Lawsuits regarding this issue in several States. Also being reported, is that this issue causes towing problems and the cruise control to malfunction, so I don't dare to use either when traveling. Even with repairs, if you can find the parts, some owners are reporting several repeated failures. You can't replace defective parts with more defective parts and expect a resolution to the problem. Though I have not had brake failure yet, and with only 27,000 mile, it is always on my mind while driving. I don't feel safe when driving my vehicle, hence the low mileage. Chrysler needs to be held accountable and a recall needs to be issued for all makes/models/years having this issue.
ABS and TCS modules failing cruise control and abs unavailable when lights appear on dash. Vehicle not inspected by authorities or dealer at the moment will take to service center shortly.
Abs module failure. Traction control failure Stability control failure. Module replaced by dealer once under warranty and failed a little over a year later. Dealer would not replace defective unit stating it was out of warranty.
My abs system is not working the ETC is not working was told this is because of the abs pump and abs computer. Most safety components related to brakes not working. There are over a thousand complaints to Chrysler about these trucks and still no recall. Please help.
The "Service Electronic Braking System" warning comes on and off intermittently with an annoying "DING" while driving. It never stays on and always just comes on, DING, and goes away but repeatedly. It will eventually go away after driving a bit but then comes back unexpectedly. This also disables the Cruise Control. There are tons of complaints throughout the RAM forums and I see a lot of complaints filed here on NHTSA. The dealer is obviously very aware of the problem as the replacement parts are not available except for months of waiting, if at all. The dealership has not only stated the part is a long lead item and on back-order but it will be $1200 to $1600 for replacement and that part may fail as well!
Driving the vehicle the alarm dinged and the panel displayed service ABS system, service electronic breaking system. Would go off and on flashing intermittently
The ABS light keeps coming on/off when I-??m driving saying service the abs module or the equipment.. I did some research about it alot people complain about this problem.
The abs control module and HCU are faulty. No parts have been available for a fix. I have now been driving a truck in the north with no ABS, 4 wheel drive, cruise control or traction control. This truck is a hazard to everyone on the road but with no parts it-??s hard to fix it. I only have one vehicle. Tons of people have the same issue and nothing is being done. Ram won-??t do anything, stallantis wont do anything. It-??s just crazy
The service electronic brake light and traction control light keeps illuminating periodically while driving. The code was read and ELECTRICAL FAILURE C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL was received. This is the second time this occurred and the first one was replaced under warranty.
For the last 3 years the ABS and traction control warning lights come on and off intermittently. This occures every time the truck is driven. I have replaced the ABS control module and the Hydraulic pump unit with new OEM parts and this issue keeps coming back. Driving and towing heavy loads this truck is extremely dangerous (without a functioning ABS system). A recall is urgently needed!!!
Getting the Service Electronic Brake System, Traction Control, and Anti-lock Brake System. First noticed these alarms a couple years ago but they cleared by themselves. Sometime this 2024 Spring, around 70k miles these alarms started again. This time the alarms are nuisance going on and off multiple time a minute all by itself. Cruise control won-??t work when alarms are on. When I checked forums, seems like there is a problem with these modules. The supply of the parts is a problem also. I ordered the parts from Mopar and after I paid for the parts and received an order number. The next day Mopar cancelled my order tell me to go to the dealer. Seems like Mopar is monopolizing these parts.
2018 Dodge 2500 w 75K miles. "Service ABS" and "Service Electronic Braking System" warning lights coming on intermittently for appx last 1.5K miles. When this happens, it disengages the cruise control when set, or keeps it from being engaged when unset. Noted yesterday that Braking performance is now lessened- slightly increased stopping distance noted when pulling an appx 3K lb trailer (no trailer brakes), which i regularly tow. Brake fluid levels good, brake shoes/calipers/rotors in very good shape.
