Intermittent dash flashing of ABS and "service electronic brakes" messages tied to known HCU/ABS module fault/failure. C002-01 code. Driving over light bumps trigger lights on/off. Dealership told me to ignore lights and code.
ABS Brake control warnings have been flashing on and off for many weeks. Took it to the dealer that sold me the truck and they said that they cannot get the parts and it may take several months or longer. I did some online reading in RAM truck forums and this is an ongoing problem for many 2018 RAM truck owners. Some have been waiting over 5 months to have the ABS control modules replaced and all of us are having to drive an unsafe vehicle while waiting.
Truck has 44,945 miles on it and began showing intermittent ABS and Traction Control lights on the dash. This is a known problem on RAM trucks which the ABS module or the Hydraulic Control Unit needs to be replaced. I have noticed lack of braking power when this fault appears on the dash. Both while pulling a 9,000 lb RV and without pulling anything. The vehicle scan showed a C0020-1 ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) Pump Motor - General Electrical Failure.
My truck was repaired in September of 2021 at a dealership due to a faulty HCU for the ABS system. I got a famed Ram service electronic braking system message along with service ABS system. After being replaced, I now again as of three weeks ago (10-21-2023) have the same service electronic braking system message with an electrical fault code for the HCU. After visiting the dealership, I was told there were not parts to replace it at this time and they could do nothing for me. Also, my service rep stated that Stellantis is reengineering the part due to known faulty problems however time frame is unknown. With this light on I have no ABS, no traction control, and no cruise control. The no ABS and traction control is a major issue for a heavy duty truck especially while pulling a trailer as brakes can now lock up due to no ABS control. This is obviously a safety issue and I'd hope this would become a recall and quality safe parts would be utilized to fix it.
Hydraulic control unit failed causing abs and traction control lights to intermittently flash on and off. Dealer says replacement parts are discontinued and not available until at least February.

Vehicle started flashing -??Service ABS Braking System-?? and -??Service Electronic Braking System-?? intermittently. There is no rhyme or reason and no way to make vehicle reproduce this at will.
The Hydraulic Control Unit Chrysler part number 68143491AA failed and been replaced multiply times on my vehicle. I have the current failed part available for inspection upon request. This causes the Anti-lock braking system and Traction control system to no longer function limiting function under wet or slippery conditions. This puts the driver and others at risk. The problem has been reproduced by my local dealer twice both with the original part and its' replacements. I am adding the first date below. The second failure was 12,000 miles later after the first was ABS was fixed. The vehicle/component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no Warning lamps/messaged before failure only after. These would be ABS lamp and traction control lamp plus a service ABS warning message.
My Ram has about 31,000 and about 5,000 miles ago it kept randomly giving me a message to service the abs system and traction control message. I took it to the dealership and they informed me that it's a common occurrence for my model truck and they replaced the abs module with the same part number and said they're working on a revised part to replace it. They told me that the abs is not working all the time because faulty part which seems like a safety issue. I did some research online and a lot people are having the same issue and are waiting for the new part which is said to be available sometime next year but we will most likely be forced to pay for the new part and labor. Hopefully you will be able to get them to do a recall for this issue. Thanks
Anti-lock braking system rendered inoperable by defect hydraulic control unit. ABS inoperative, frequent audible alarms and flashing lights on dash. Dealer explained that problem is common and that replacement part is not available until May of 2024 at the earliest. This vehicle should be recalled. Federally mandated ABS is inoperative and cannot be fixed for at least six months. This vehicle is my daily transportation. Dealer told me that I'll "have to deal with it" till parts become available. Vehicle almost left the highway during braking on a downhill in the mountains in rain. Vehicle was towing just over 5000 pounds at the time, well within tow rating.
Automatic brake system module, HCU abs pump. SAFETY. malfunction of part. Known to be world wide problem. Confirm by dealer scanner code. Continuously, warning light and alarm. Response from dealer manufacturers of 2018 ram 2500 diesel, known problem, no recall. Dealer for part can not give time, date when part can become available. Can not give time or date when part will be available?
ABS light and traction control light comes on all the time and when lights comes on curse control stop working, by lights coming on all the times don't feel safe to drive truck.
Abs light, traction control and electronic braking system. Took to dealership, said its a known problem. No parts are available until February 21 2024.
The Anti Lock Brake light and traction control light is on and going on and off. I am told that the HUC is in need of replacement and none are available for a $60000 Truck sold by Ram. This is clearly a safety issue, (Brakes) and either a Recall or a buy back of the effected vehicles need to be done. What can you do since Ram seems to be sweeping it under the rug??
abs / traction contol light keeps coming on. dealer not able to replace part because of so many trucks having this same problem that the new ABS hydraulic control unit (HCU) will not be available until sometime in 2024 and will be up to all customers to replace at customer cost. should be a recall done becuase there is an over 50% fail rate on these units. 2017-2018 ram 2500 trucks
The hydraulic control unit for the antilock braking system failed, causing a repeated dinging and loss of all antilock, breaking traction control, and cruise control capabilities. Dealership quotes parts are almost a year out, and I will be stuck driving the vehicle in an unsafe manner until it is repaired.
ABS and Traction Control lights and associated chime intermittently (but relentlessly) turn on/off/on. This happened while towing a trailer in mountains and disabled my ABS, traction control and cruise control. This 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 has only 17,100 miles. The codes C2200 and C0020 that it shows, according to Ram, require an ABS module and hydraulic control unit. The latter is unavailable and even if it was, is known to fail again regularly within a couple of years. This is a HUGE safety issue we need help fixing.
1. ABS/Electric Stability Control service antilock brakes lights flicker on and off. 2. When ABS light is on you could lose control of brakes due to possibility of wheels locking up. 3. Went to the dealer twice to correct the problem and still having the same issue. 4. The vehicle was inspected and worked on by Ram Dealer. 5. No warning lights before failure.
