This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
ABS and Traction control light come on intermittently causing cruise control to kick out and not work. Also causes an alarm to ding over and over. This is a known problem with the Ram HD for this year.
When driving down the road the anti-lock brake and traction control lights came on. Anti-lock brakes quit working making the vehicle unsafe to drive. C0020-01 trouble code was noted. HBU and or ABS module fault is apparent.
I-??ve just started experiencing the ABS light coming off and on. Did some research and find that this is a common problem wish my truck. Making appointment with dealer to have it checked out. Also about a year ago my radio had to be replaced as the screen was delaminating. Was told this also common problem but Ram was of no help. Had to buy new radio. Now my truck only has 32,000 miles on it and was under 30 when radio was replaced. But I-??m second owner and ram would not warranty it. Now that I-??m researching this site I-??m seeing many problems that are consistent with mine. This should be a recall. The brakes and the radios. Think I-??ll be trading this truck off.
The ABS Control module has been replaced once for constantly giving the -??service anti-lock braking system-?? message and making a dinging sound. The repair worked for a little over a year and it-??s happening again.
2018 Ram 2500. Trouble code for service electronic brake system, traction control deactivation, cruise control deactivation, ABS deactivation occurs at all speeds and all surfaces intermittently and the trouble code will activate and deactivate for up to approximately 45 minutes continuously. Ram certified dealership service departments in 2 states have declared it a known issue, have stated there is a TSB for repair but parts are unavailable with no ETA. Vehicle is under warranty but no remedy except to wait for parts which I have done for almost 1 year. Several other colleagues have the same issue which makes me concerned that probably 1 in every 3 2018 Ram 2500s are or will become safety concerns. It would be my intention to sell this unsafe vehicle as it is a primary means of transportation for my school aged children but no dealership will entertain a trade or severally reduces the trade in amount due to an issue that I can-??t even through a factory warranty still being active have resolved. I have no other recourse at this time other than to advocate for individuals to sign up for the class action lawsuit against FCA which covers this exact issue which will hopefully force FCA to fix these unsafe vehicles before deaths or serious injury occur. Any help your organization could be would be appreciated as this is a glaring safety issue known by the manufacturer and these vehicles are used for towing.
Abs traction control light is on again this is the second time this has happened dealer replaced abs module lasted a little over two years now problem has started again.
ABS/Trac lights ding constantly with the dash displaying "service electronic stability" or something along those lines. ABS system becomes inoperable as well as kicking your cruise control off. Very unsafe and parts are not available for repair as well as Ram not taking recall action up to this point.
I have the warning light that comes on and message stating to " Service Antilock Brake System" and " Service Electronic Braking System". I have spoken to 2 different dealerships, and both tell me that it is an issue with the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit. Both dealerships tell me that no replacement parts can be ordered and there is nothing that can be done to fix problem. The vehicle has less than 50,000 miles and the brakes do not work as they should. This is a major safety issue, and I am being told there is nothing that can be done about it.
ABS module failure, brakes can potentially lock up causing you to slide. Preoblem has been verified, but has not need inspected by manufacturer (on my vehicle). And there were no symptoms, light came on as soon as it failed
ABS / traction control light on in the dash. Cruise control inop. This is a known issue, in fact 2019-2022 truck had a recall issued. Ram needs to address this safety issue
Defective Brake Control Module and Hydraulic Control Unit intermittently cause ABS and Traction Control warning lights and error messages to repair ABS and Electronic Brake System. This causes cruise control to drop and no ABS braking. This first happened 2 years ago and was dealer repaired and now it's happening again. This is obviously caused due to defective parts.
I have had problems with the ABS lights and warning come on 4 times. 2 times I have had it repaired by Philips Dodge Ram in Ocala Florida. I had it repaired at my own expense at Hilton Automotive and once under warranty at Hilton Automotive. My truck only has 12145 miles on it. The lights are still on and the warning flashes at times. It appears to have something to do with the temperature. After repairing it worked for a week or so until the temperature dropped under 75 at night. I cannot afford to spend over $1000 a month to keep this straight.
I keep getting alarms on my truck for the ABS system and brake controlling system. I took the vehicle to a dealer to find out the problem and was told the HCU and the ABS module both need to be replaced and this is a common issue with my year and model truck. I was informed my repair bill would be over $1900. I tow a fifth wheel camper on a regular basis and do not want to have my brakes lock up while an 11,000 pound trailer is behind me.
The ABS system is not working it has a C0020-01 code. Yes it is available for inspection 24 hour a day. The anti-lock system did not activate in slick rainy conditions. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. Messages- Service Electric braking system. Warning Lamps- ABS and traction control. Other symptoms- loss on cruise control. All of these symptoms started in July of 2023 with 80k miles on vehicle.
Starting March of 2022 I began having intermittent alarms for the anti-lock brake system needing to be serviced. Often the alarm would come on and off going over small bumps in the road. With time the issue became worse and the alarm is on all the time. This affects the vehicles anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and the cruise control. I took my car to a mechanic and they found that both the hydraulic control unit and the anti-lock brake system module need to be replaced. Cost is over $2000, but feel I need to replace to have a safe vehicle as I often pull a trailer.
