The ABS module and the hydraulic control module have failed twice in 75,000 miles. Not having abs or traction control is a huge safety risk for a truck that is designed to haul heavy loads.
Continuously get -?? Service Brake System -?? and ABS light comes on, Traction Control, and Cruise controls go off. This problem happens constantly every time the truck is driven. Scanner reading shows code -??C0020-01-?? ABS pump motor general electrical failure.
I started my truck on 6/26/2023, and the service electronic braking system light came on, then went off. It has been intermittently coming on since then. When the light is on, I lose ABS, traction control, and cruise control. I had the ABS system repaired under warranty, then again out of pocket in August of 2022 at Ron Carter League City for the same issue. This is a safety concern due to the loss of safety control measures, and needs to be recalled
Abs brake pump motor failure. Dealership has replaced with new parts and new parts have failed. Vehicle only has 20,000 miles on it. Not only is there no part-??s available but manufacturers tells me I will have to pay the $1700 repairs.

ABS lights flash on the dash, electronic braking system fault, traction control flashing. Intermittent. Research shows replacing HCU will resolve, I will order the part and repair myself but this should be a covered recall since it is a safety concern.
The ABS Hydraulic Pump seems to have failed and perhaps took out the ABS control module. Nothing catastrophic happened on road. Simply lost ABS, Traction Control, and Cruise control-??.and soon $1,500 The hydraulic pump was listed in the Ram Dealer parts system as -??Under Engineering Review-?? for at least a couple months and i can-??t find out what that was about, the resolution, etc-??. Wanted to log here in case it becomes a regular occurrence on these vehicles.
For a few weeks now, my truck has slowly begun to light up and ding, saying -??service ABS-?? but going away. It started to ding continuously and then lit up saying service electronic braking system and ABS. Now I feel as if the only vehicle I own is not safe to drive. I have read the numerous complaints online stating they had the same issue and feel I got sold a lemon with known issues. I cannot knowingly transport my family in a vehicle that isn-??t safe. I am a completely disabled veteran and bought this truck with the intention of it being a diesel engine that would last me. Unsure how to proceed.
I continuously receive -??service electronic brake system-?? and -??service ABS-?? warnings. Every time this happens, the service lights on my dash come on and the trucks -??dings-?? to notify me (very annoying when this happens multiple times in the same trip). These go off and come back on multiple times per driving session. Timing varies, sometimes on and off in seconds, sometimes the entire trip. This started as a one time warning and went away, now it happens every time I am in the truck. I have researched this a little and found that the brake control has a known issue, however no recall has been made to correct the issue. Thanks!
The service electronics brake system and trackion controll errors pop on and off. Sometime they stay on for awhile. Safety concerned I have no ABS durring these times the error is on.
6 months ago, the ABS brakes and stability control warning lights started to randomly light up on the dashboard. Sometimes I would not see a repeat of this for a week or more. The warning lights started to appear more frequently, and now are on all the time. When on, the cruise control does not operate. I took it to a Ram dealer near me, and the service department confirmed it is a defective ABS pump, known as the HCU module. They then informed me that Chrysler has no inventory of this part! I asked how long to get one, and was told some people have been waiting for over a year! The part, # 68143491AB, appears to be readily available online from a multitude of vendors. My truck has only 34,000 miles on it, and no ABS, no Stability control, and no cruise control is a safety issue! Please HELP!
Consistent and predictive Failure of Anti-lock brake control module (68143491-AA /68143491-AB) in 2018 Ram 2500/3500 Trucks. Nationwide shortage of OEM Replacement Parts leading dealers to hoard exclusively for customers for whom repairs are to be made. Extremely difficult to find a dealer willing to sell brake control module, if they have one in stock, to anyone. Instead, dealers recognize there is up to a 6 month waiting period for restocking and therefore taking advantage of those who chose to utilize independent mechanics. Dodge/Ram is acutely aware of shortage, as well as failure of part and has chosen to not warranty or conduct a voluntary recall. Every Ram mechanic and parts office I spoke with acknowledge EVERY 2018 Ram 2500/3500 will fail. The subject vehicle had under 31,000 miles. During failure, the vehicle loses its' anti-lock functions, traction control, defeats cruise control, dash continually lights up with error message 'SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM' then 'SERVICE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM' while simultaneously and constantly generating an audible warning over and over again during the operation of the vehicle. Price gouging for part, if you can find a dealer that 1) has the part in stock, and 2) willing to sell the part can run between $180.26 - $525.02 (MSRP $262). Part is in use for year models 2012-2018. I personally paid $525.02 (and grateful a dealer sold the part to me over the objections of the parts manager), drove 4 hours to obtain, plus install.
I began receiving the Service Electronic Braking System and ABS warnings. In turn, those warnings disable cruise control and traction control. I tow heavy with the pickup and need the systems to work. My understanding is that this is a common problem with this model year. In turn I will not repair this issue on my dime and should be addressed by Ram due to faulty engineering. Either the system will work or it will cause a problem on the road.
Subject: Investigation Request: ABS Fault Code C0020 in 2018 Ram Trucks Dear NHTSA Team, I write to bring your attention to a critical safety issue affecting numerous 2018 Ram trucks. The problem revolves around the faulty ABS HCU, This fault leads to intermittent or complete loss of ABS functionality, posing significant risks to the safety of vehicle occupants and others on the road. The ABS system plays a crucial role in preventing wheel lock-up and maintaining steering control during braking. However, the faulty ABS unit compromises the effectiveness of the ABS system, particularly in emergency situations and adverse driving conditions. The inability to maintain stable braking performance raises the potential for accidents and reduces the overall safety of the affected vehicles. In light of these safety concerns, I kindly request the NHTSA to launch a thorough investigation into the ABS, HCU/Module in 2018 Ram trucks. The investigation should aim to identify the underlying cause of this issue, assess its prevalence, and evaluate the severity of its impact on vehicle safety.Furthermore, I urge the NHTSA to engage in collaboration with Ram Trucks, the vehicle manufacturer, to ensure that affected owners receive timely notifications about the issue. It is essential to establish a process for providing necessary repairs or replacements to affected vehicles at no cost to the owners. This proactive approach will help mitigate the safety risks associated with the ABS units. As an organization committed to ensuring road safety, the NHTSA plays a vital role in addressing automotive issues that pose potential risks to drivers and passengers. By investigating and resolving the faulty ABS units in 2018 Ram trucks, the NHTSA can uphold its mission of safeguarding the well-being of vehicle owners and promoting overall road safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I eagerly await your response, detailing the actions taken by the NHTSA to address this safety concern.
The HCU and ABS modules are defetive. After calling several RAM dealerships, parts may not be available until August and they will not have enough parts for everyone.I do not know if it is safe to drive. WILL THERE BE A RECALL?
