I had warning lights come on service abs brake system. They replaced abs control module at around 30000 miles under warranty, and now at 58000 I'm getting the warning again. Abs doesn't work, traction control doesn't work and cruise control doesn't work. This makes the truck very unsafe especially when towing which truck is designed for. There needs to be a recall done on this problem.
ABS and service electronic breaking system lights all come on. I loose 4 wheel drive and cruise control as well as traction control. Happened at about 55000 miles had fixed now happened again at 95000 miles. Breaking is not as good as it should be!
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 MPH, the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the ABS sensor had failed and replaced the ABS light. While driving approximately at55 MPH and decelerating, the contact applied the brake pedal but failed to respond. The vehicle was coasted to a stop. The vehicle was returned to the same dealer who had diagnosed that the calipers had failed. The brakes, brake pads, routers, and calibers were replaced. Approximately, 6 months later the contact noticed the vehicle failed to reverse. The vehicle app notes brake system failure, anti-brake system, ABS failure, and tire pressure failure warnings displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to confirm a diagnosis however had assumed the reverse piston rods may have failed. The contact was informed the repair may take up to 2 weeks due to limited parts. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,000.
Hydraulic Control Unit & ABS Module. 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 Bought truck new, the HCU & ABS Module parts failed issuing constant alarms on dash. Parts were replaced in April 2021 under warranty with approximately 22,000 miles on truck. Now getting the same alarms again and dealer says the Hydraulic Control Unit has failed again. Truck only has 47,000 miles and are in need of replacement again. Looking this up online and there are tons of reports with the same issue on 2018 models. Brakes should be covered in a warranty or recall, IMO.
Two years worth of "ABS" and "service electronic brake system" warning lights and bells going off. About 3 months ago they finally got a re-engineered ABS brake module installed and the light went away for about 2 months. Now they are back intermittently. Took it in to the dealership and they now say the HCU unit needs to be replaced as well. From reading RAM forums this is a known/on going problem with 2018 RAM 2500.

Intermittent ABS/Traction control light despite new ABS module and service at dealer. During heavy braking the Traction control does not function properly, causing unsafe driving conditions for myself and other motor vehicles on the road. Chrysler/Mopar have failed to address the issue.
Electronic Braking System comes on and off after I hit a bump on the road. I am very worried about this issue. The dealer is not able to diagnos the issue unless it come on when I drop it off to them. This issues has been an issue for several months now. I checked online and several other Ram 2500 and 3500 owners are dealing with the same issue. Please help us do something about this.
ABS does not engage in emergency stops. Truck has been reviewed by a dealer noting a surge of HCU and ABS units malfunctioning. Parts are on a year lead time in order to repair.
The hydraulic control module and the ABS module are not working properly. This is a known defect on these trucks. When the lights are on, the ABS will not engage. I have had the truck at the dealer, and they said since there is no recall, they can do nothing. This problem was addressed in a recall for 2020 and newer trucks but not for 2018 trucks. I know of two class action lawsuits, one in Texas and one in California.
For the last few months, my ABS/Traction control lights on the dash board have been flashing on and off over bumps and even flat road driving. Over the last few weeks, the ABS/Traction control lights have been staying on constantly. I am nervous to tow a heavy load with these lights illuminated since this is dealing with the brake system. After some research, I have discovered this is a huge issue with the RAM 2500 and should be fixed by the manufacturer
Starting about a month ago, I started receiving a warning about servicing my electric brake system. Was very intermittent. Spoke to the dealership and they said if it wasn-??t happening right then, they couldn-??t read the codes. If the light went out, I could wait to bring it. Went on a trip, and it started happening more frequently, but still intermittently. I tow a 7-ton fifth wheel, which made me feel very unsafe. Sometimes happens moments apart, and sometimes hours apart, and it always knocks out the cruise control. Looking online, I found that this is a very common occurrence, and that I should report it. I did not have an accident, and tried to do my best to drive safely so I could get home.
Loss of break performance. Traction control and abs warning lights come on intermittently. This is the second time this has happened. Had abs module and hcu replaced once already.
the ABS light will come on while I am driving along with traction control turning off with a ding. While the warning comes on, the cruise control will turn off. It will turn on and off several time during a drive and will ding when it comes on. Very distracting and annoying and distracting. the dealer will charge me to look at it to find a reason. Truck has 37,000
ABS/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS and alarm started in January 2022 the vehicle only had 21,460 miles on it so I took my 2018 Ram to dealership to get looked at and they diagnosed the faulty part as ABS HCU/MODULE. The vehicle was under warranty so they fixed it for free. October 01 2024 the same thing happened vehicle with 38,000 miles all the lights started flashing and alarming while I was towing my camper I've heard that when this happens it disables cruise control and the trailer braking system. THATS VERY DANGOUS WHEN PULLING A 8,000 POUND CAMPER!! Now I've heard that the part is on back order and 'm lost on what to do.
The ABS system lights and dinging keep going off. Started months ago. Stopped for a while then does it randomly sometimes a lot, sometimes once in a while. Theirs is no rhyme or reason why or when it dies it. Stopped at dealer and they said this year was having problems and they have been back ordered with parts and have no idea when they will be in.
On 10-01-2024, I took my 2018 RAM Truck for service at the Warrensburg, Missouri Dealership. The reason was due to service lights coming on in the truck to tell me the ABS and Electronic Braking System had issues. The dealership service department replaced a faulty HCU and the "Control Anti-Lock Brake System". My truck had 69850 mileage when the service lights came on. This is the second time, the HCU has been replaced due to the same issue in 04-21-2021, when the same truck had 30945 miles. The dealership explained this is due to RAM contracting the HCU part from a manufacture that proved to be bad. They have now changed manufacturer and the new part is being installed. A quick search through the internet shows this is an issue in RAM trucks over the years with two lawsuit in two different states. The loss of the braking systems, especially when hauling trailers and campers can cause serious braking issues. Why has there not been a recall issued on this HCU? Not only unsafe, but not being warrantied by RAM, my repair bill for their error in manufacturer, cost me almost $800. Please investigate before a serious accident occurs over many years of these RAM trucks using a faulty HCU.
Traction control light and ABS light come on and go off intermittently will cancel my cruise control.A warning ding accompanies this.It does this frequently while driving.Electronic braking warning comes on the dash.
