Manufacturer has failed to remedy ABS HCU recall for over 6 months. Vehicle is beginning to exhibit ABS warnings. This wait for parts is unacceptable, especially for a braking system recall. Please get the manufacturer to deal with this issue in a timely manner.
Ram issued a recall (NHTSA Recall Number 24V-896) on November 27, 2024, and there has been no remedy for repairing or replacing the faulty Brake HCU. It has been six months with no remedy in place for this recall. How long should it take to fix the known problem with this vehicle?
ABS warning light and alarm come on while driving. If you have cruise control on, it then cancels the cruise control. After a few miles the warning light and alarm will go off, and works good for a few miles. Then the same thing happens - warning light and alarm come on again. This has been an ongoing problem, over a year. Went to dealer where purchased vehicle. Was told that Chrysler doesn't have a fix for this and doesn't have parts to fix it either. So there is nothing I can do. No parts to fix, dealer can't help, and meanwhile I have a faulty vehicle which is my main vehicle I drive. The ABS system is real handy here in Minnesota because of slippery roads in the winter with snow and ice.

There is a well know issue with potential failures in the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), which can impact critical braking and stability systems, including ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and traction control. Manufacturer Recall # - C4B NHTSA Recall # - 24V-896 There has been a recall on this issue since Nov of 2024 however, there has been no remedy offered yet on most models affected. I am experiencing this failure on my 2018 RAM 2500. It is noted in the recall that this failure is a safety issue and can cause the car to crash without prior warning. The remedy is know by RAM as they have issued it for certain chasis types. The Brake HCU must be replaced. I believe RAM's delay for a remedy is simply the cost and they are willfully putting lives in danger over financial impacts.
The Electronic breaking system, Antilock Brake System and traction control on my 2018 Ram 2500 failed in June 2024. My safety has been put at risk because my ABS does not work properly and neither does my electronic traction control which is unsafe for myself and others on the road. It has been inspected by the manufacturer but I was parts are not available for the repair. Yes, I have had the warning lights since June 2024.
Why, after more than 5 months of a recall issuance, is there still not a "fix" issued to service dealers to make needed replacement of the Hydraulic Control Unit ABS (recall C4B)" Is anybody overseeing this matter to ensure timely resolve to this safety issue" I called my local Dodge dealer this morning to check on this after not hearing any further word about it despite registering my vehicle for recall notification with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and learned that they have a bulk shipment of 16 HCU units in stock, but they do not have the vehicle computer programming (or something to that effect) to initiate fixing the matter. I sure hope the HCU on my truck doesn't fail and cause an accident.
Mopar part numbers 68143491AA Control-Anti-lock brake system and Mopar part number 68347098AB Module-Anti_lock brake system both failed and were replaced/repaired by dealer under warrranty where I purchased the truck. Truck had 8,223 miles on it. Brakes and traction control was compromised. Numerous warning lights and warning tones were observed.
Under the Recall information it shows that this vehicle is unsafe to drive due to the ABS system in Major. It will go off and go on all by itself while I-??m driving. and they can-??t get the part I need.
We paid about $70,000 for our 2500 Ram truck. As we were driving the freeway our ABS warning went off shutting the cruise control-??this got to where it happened quite often.. at the time there were no recalls on it so we paid a total of $2,030. We had added a fuel filter change while we had the vehicle there. Once we received the recall letter we filed for a refund. I received an email stating that they would only refund $1656. When I wrote back..-??-?? may I ask why I am not getting a full refund?-??-?? I received a very rude email that the payment was final with no other explanation!! I called twice trying to get this resolved to no prevail. I told them that I did not expect them to pay for the fuel filter but that still left $250. Because of my husband being a disabled veteran we received a discount and paid no taxes which saved fca money!!! I want the $250 that is owed to us.
ABS intermittently alarms very frequently and causes the cruise control to drop out. I assume the ABS is useless and this taking place. I-??M told this is a common problem.
In November 2024 through December 2025 our Ram started experiencing issues with the traction control and ABS lights coming on randomly and the vehicle not braking properly. Braking in corners is very sketchy and feels like you are going to run off the road. As December went on, all brake related lights stayed on and the truck feels like it has manual brakes from the 1970s. We received a Legal Notice explaining there is a class action settlement going on due to the ABS module and Brake HCU on our truck in late December 2024. We did not drive the truck long distances for the latter half of December due to the issues we were experiencing plus receiving the legal notice. A couple weeks into January 2025 we received a notice from FCA US LLC indicating there is a safety recall for the Brake HCU which affects the ABS and ESC systems. The notice said the vehicle may lose control and cause a crash without prior warning. Due to this second notice and the fact that our truck was having more issues with the braking systems and the lights were permanently on, we parked the truck mid January 2025 and have not driven it since. In early March we contacted the local dealership Morie's of Little Fall, MN as well as Chrylser/Mopar asking when our truck can be repaired and explained this is our daily driver and only safe vehicle we have for distances over 30 miles. Neither of them have been helpful and could not give us an answer. The service person at Morie's confirmed our vehicle is a part of the recall and the things we are experiencing would be related. He advised we do not drive the vehicle either. We are now mid April, THREE MONTHS WITHOUT A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE, and we have received no further communication from anyone relating to our truck. It is still parked and unsafe to drive. Action needs to be taken to remedy this situation. We are normally a two vehicle household down to one that can't be driven far and one that can't be driven at all.
ABS light comes on and off during operation, "service electronic brake system" notification flashes on and off as well. ABS does not work while light is on. A scanner has been run and the code is for the ABS module. We put children in this vehicle. This exact issue happened back in 2022 and the ABS HCU was replaced. We received a recall notice but are being told the truck has been repaired because the part was replaced in 2022, however the same issue is currently happening again.
Dodge/Chrysler/Ram has known about this issue for a long time. I experienced the conditions outlined in the recall on my personal vehicle, before there was a recall issued. I took it to my local dealership to have the issue repaired in August 2024. They said the brake sensor is in national back order and could take a year to get the part in. How can you issue a safety recall but not have the parts available to fix the truck?
HCU has failed on my truck back in July of 2024 it was impossible to find a replacement part got a recall letter on November had abs track control, and cruise control loss repeated dinging sounds to service ABS and electronic brakes and most recently you can hear the brake pads slightly rubbing on rotors and can feel a little bit of resistance while driving down the road
On August 10, 2022 the truck was presented to the dealership because the ABS system was failing. This was prior to the recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. I paid to have the system repaired. A recall was issued AFTER that date. I submitted a claim and was paid for my expenses by FCA. On March 3, 2025 the system notification system flashed warning the the ABS system was failing. I immediately took the truck to Mac Haik dealership and was advised that I could safely drive the truck until the following Monday when I could drop it off for diagnostic testing. The diagnostic testing revealed that the system was failing BUT FCA would not cover the full cost of the repairs. They would require "Customer Participation" payment of $546. I refused the repair because the repairs done August 2022, PRIOR to the recall was failing, so that told me that the parts utilized August 2022 were faulty and should be replaced under the terms of the recall and not require "Customer Participation of $546. I need your help to get FCA to replace and repair their faulty manufacturing.
It's been 2 months and there's no fix. Ill happily accept a repair but I want a refund or another vehicle if they can't fix it. I have no ABS or electronic braking system. I've been unable to drive it for years. The part needed is unavailable and dealerships tell me it will be a software update when a fix becomes available when the recall notice says new part. I just want to be able to drive the truck I pay almost 700 a month for. Thank you!
