I just purchased a 2018 Dodge Ram Crew Cab from Crown Dodge in Ventura Ca. Within 5000 miles of purchase the ABS has failed and my breaks locked up on the freeway! The truck was taken into the dealership and the service department told me that the part was backordered till mid August and to do ahead and drive it the next 3 1/2 months and assured me it was safe. They sent me home with the truck and said it was totally safe to drive but just don-??t break hard or fast"! I left with the alarm beeping continuously and drove home. I am supposed to live without a truck for 4 months" This truck was purchased for towing my commercial fishing vessel daily to and from the harbor being used in conjunction with my limited entry fishing permits ie: crab, sea urchin, sea cucumber, lobster and deeper nearshore rockfish. Without the truck I can not launch the commercial boat that weighs approximately 8000 lbs. Dodge should be held to a higher standard for their trucks! Please HELP! HCU and ABS Module stopped working. My safety along with other people-??s safety is put at risk because if the braking system is not working properly, especially in slippery or wet conditions, then I won-??t be able to stop when needed, which can lead to a deadly crash. Yes, the problem was confirmed by the dealership that the hcu and abs control module will need to be replaced. However, the parts are on back order and do not know when they will be in stock, which is a terrible problem to have when it comes to somebody-??s brakes. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone since the light came on, except for the dealership diagnosis. The abs light and traction control light pings intermittently. The cruise control stops working when the light pings which could also lead to a crash. Customers should not have to pay for the $1800 repair bill for a Chrysler faulty part.
Intermittent ABS, EBS and traction control issues causing spurious warnings and loss of cruse control. The alerts are distracting to the driver, loss of ebs/abs represents safety issues while traveling, as does the loss of traction control and cruse control. Dealer has diagnosed the issue to the respective abs/ebs controllers but reports no parts in inventory and no due date for when they will be available. Formally request NHTSA force a recall to require the mfg to correct the issue expeditiously.
The service ABS System light cycles on and off continuously going down the road. Upon calling the dealer it is a known issue and parts have been on nationawide back order for months with no resolution in sight until -??at least August-??. In the meantime consumers cannot use cruise control nor will the electronic braking system work for a pull behind trailer. Not having the ABS function properly is dangerous and Ram knows this is an issue but cannot keep up with the high demand associated with this issue.
The ABS control module failed which results in the ABS system not working. I took the truck in for repair in June of 2022 and had the ABS Module and the ABS hydraulic pump replaced. Now 10 months later, I find that the truck is experiencing similar issues. If you have to push on the brake pedal too hard to avoid an accident, the ABS system shuts down and warning lights come on in the dash. RAM dealers will not warranty the labor to replace the parts and now you cannot even get the parts as they are on backorder. So we have a truck with no ABS system working and cannot even get parts to repair it. And we have to pay for the repair a second time after 10 months. This is unacceptable as we use this truck to pull a boat and camper and now we feel unsafe without a working ABS system.
The ABS light is on, states it needs to be fixed, we were told by our mechanic that this is a known issue. HCU unit fail and throws service ABS light. Cruise control does not work due to this issue. This started last November and are waiting for parts for the repairs. The truck only had around 74,000 miles when this started. Our repairs are going to be over $1200 to fix. This is crazy, Ram should be recalling these trucks and paying for the repairs.
1. Anti-Lock Brake System Hydraulic Control Unit 2. Possible safety issue with no ABS available 3. Yes evidently the new part needed in "under engineering review". 4. Took truck to mechanic and confirmed the HCU unit 5. yes have warning messages that WILL NOT STOP CHIMING; Service Electronic Braking system; Service Anti-lock Brake System
The vehicle experiences intermittent fault displays for "electronic brake service" and "ABS Service". This causes the vehicle to suddenly come out of cruise control and slow dramatically. This causes the vehicles ABS safety function to be inoperative reducing the overall braking capability and increasing the safe stopping distance This causes traction and stability controls to be disabled further degrading the built in safety features This was diagnosed several months ago by the dealership as an ABS hydraulic pump problem with no parts availability. The lack of parts has been an issue for months and has rendered my vehicle inoperative. The dealer said this was a common problem and that they had multiple Ram trucks with the same problem. I also checked online and found multiple reports of the same issue across the brand and across the country. This is a significant and costly repair >$800 for a part which is clearly underdesigned for the applicaiton with poor or little reliability.
At random times I get a chime and dash lights that say service antilock break system and service electrical breaking system. It wont happen for a week and the suddenly it will chime and flash every 10 seconds until the truck sits over night. I have replaced all abs sensors with no change. I-??ve taken it to the dealership 2 times and they wont even look at it because it doesn-??t show a code. I-??ve read countless people online complaining about this same issue and some who have even had break failures. It-??s amazing this isn-??t a recall item with the number of complaints and lawsuits I-??ve read. Hoping this will help get a recall started as the problem is potentially dangerous and incredibly annoying to deal with. It also shuts the cruise control off.
No accident YET. My Service ABS light and Service Electronic Brake light have been coming on and off for the past 3 to 4 months. I took my 2018 Ram 2500, (odometer 44,000 miles), to the dealer and they ran a diagnostic and found, ABS Pump Motor Control circuit and ABS Control Module failure. The informed me that they could not order the required parts because they are on national backorder. They also informed me that if I was in an emergency braking situation my ABS could fail and not activate. I had a couple of conversations with Ram corporate and they didn't seem all that interested or concerned about my situation. it is my understanding that the parts, required to fix and eliminate this potentially hazardous safety issue, could take six to nine months before they are available. I don't know what to do. Drive my truck, my only means of transportation, and hope for the best for myself and other motorist's and pedestrians" Or don't drive my truck and not be able to go to doctor appointments, grocery stores etc. I almost forgot to mention that Ram did offer to pay for 1 month car rental. What good is 1 month going to do me when it could take 9 months before the parts required is even available" In my opinion, Ram should pick up the tab for a rental vehicle until this problem has been resolved and pay for the required repairs.
ABS and Traction control warning lights and chime are constantly on-off, on- off. Took vehicle to dealer, diagnosed as brake module. The module was Replaced. The Same condition persists within 20 miles of repair. On return visit to dealer, brakes were diagnosed as brake pump failure. Dealer says the pump is back-ordered for several months latest ETA Aug 2023 for "engineering review." The dealer says the Anti-Lock system "should" default to standard style braking without any anti-skid or anti-spin. The truck seems to drive normally except under very heavy braking where the brakes seem to over-engage without additional pedal pressure. I have seen multiple claims for this same failure on the same model truck. The dealer did not specifically state the vehicle is unsafe. However, the dealer cannot issue a NH State safety inspection for the vehicle while the ABS light is on. This renders the vehicle unusable until the parts are released and available.
I have been experiencing issues with the ABS/hcu units. The warning comes on every bump and the ABS says it is not working I had it serviced last week 4/18/2023 and diagnosed as the ABS/hcu needs replaced and was ordered. Unfortunatley this is on bo until 8/16/2023. I undertand the 2019's had a recall but my 2018 does not?
Check brakes light comes on and covers digital speedometer. Dealership doesn-??t know when they can get pump to fix"?? Am I to drive this truck with faulty brakes until them"
ABS hydraulic control unit has went out with 6000 miles. It-??s a known issue to ram back order of part is 6 months. There are lawsuits over this issue. Why can-??t we have ram fix this safety issue. Does it take people getting killed to make this a recall?
The abs and traction control keep coming on and off. Sometimes the truck will sink the Brake. This is a very common problem that happens on these trucks. This is my second time that it goes out on my truck. First time went out at 40k miles now just went out on 76k miles. They-??re needs to be a recall set on this as it-??s so common to go out on such a short period of time!
