My ABS light has been intermittently illuminating my dashboard since December. I took my truck to the dealer on 3/13/23 and it's still there. Per the dealer, it needs an ABS module and the Hydraulic Control Unit. I had already replaced the HCU over a year ago so thankfully it will be covered by the dealer, but the ABS module still needs to be replaced and was told that the HCU won't be available until August. Dodge needs to address this. Obviously, this is an ongoing issue and it's not safe to drive and puts myself, my family, and others in potential danger if the electric brakes aren't performing properly. Also, I was advised by the dealer that the ABS module going out has caused the HCU to go out and is an ongoing issue that they have been seeing with no known cause.
ABS pump motor control general electric failure found by dealer code C0020-01 per dealer needs hydraulic control unit. Warning comes on ABS unit need service. Safety concern braking system could fail. Mileage at time of dealer diagnostic 28572 keeps reoccurring current mileage 29791
RAM has a -??known issue-?? with the ABS system, mainly the Hydraulic Control Unit, with the brake systems in at least the 2018 model year heavy duty trucks. They redesigned part number 68143491AA and released a new version, 68143491AB. However this part has been back ordered. I have waited 3 months so far, and have been told earliest to expect the part is August 2023. Others have waited more than a year already. Without the part, the truck rapidly flashes warnings on the dash. Additionally, the ABS, traction control and stability control systems are inoperable. For a 10,000 lb GVW truck with 800+ lb/ft of torque, this makes for dangerous handling for wet roads. I don-??t need anything for free, but something should be done to make RAM accountable for the dangerous situation they are forcing on the owners of their vehicles. These parts need to be manufactured quicker and made available for purchase by effected customers ASAP.
ABS traction control warning comes on intermittently. This causes cruse control to disengage intermittently, and causes braking and traction to be compromised at times
There seems to be a huge ongoing problem with ABS pumps and control modules for this model vehicle. I can find pages and pages of issues online for the same truck. The 'service brakes' warning comes on and off intermittently and I managed to replicate the fault after several months long enough to get it diagnosed. I am told the following parts are the issue: 68347098 - AB MODULE AN 08035030 68143491- AB CONTROL A 08035030 I got the truck diagnosed in January but was initially told Mid March for the parts and now am being told August - which would mean no functioning ABS on my vehicle for 8 months! And no guarantee the delivery date won't creep again. This is unacceptable for a safety critical component and clearly shows a fundamental flaw with the parts as they can't seem to make them faster than they are failing. I can find many reports of these happening from as early as 14,000 miles and with the replacement parts also failing.

ABS has been a non-stop issue on this truck since purchase. It has been "fixed" 3 times and currently is not drivable due to no ABS, traction control, cruise, or 4 wheel drive available. aBS module is on backorder for 3 months.
ABS Control Module failed and was replaced with part #68143491AB. Truck was purchased for plowing. Without anti-lock breaks and traction control, myself and passengers were at risk, and my ability to plow more than a few inches of snow was nearly impossible. Living on a dead end private road, plowing for neighbors to access main roads was not possible, putting neighbors and family at risk during winter emergencies. The part was back ordered for several months, delaying the repair and extending risks. The vehicle did provide an alarm to audio alarm of this problem which was a distraction throughout the part backlog period. The cost of the repair to me was $1, $119.95. This should not have occurred on this truck that had less than 40,000 miles.
The ABS system warning lights have come on and system not working, had it checked and was told it was the ABS controller assembly pump motor, code # C0020-01, and that it was a common problem with this vehicle. I was told i should report it.
My 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 has a known faulty issue with the HCU/ABS (hydraulic control unit/Anti-Brake System). My ABS light continues to flash while driving. This problem is very well known with 2017-2018 RAM trucks. The local dealership stated that the part is on backorder till August. This will be $1,000 + fix from dealership. This has been an ongoing issue, not just myself but many RAM owners, that happens at various times. The issue occurs at various speeds, when I hit a bump, or when I hit the brakes. This issue needs to be resolved with Dodge Ram and a recall issued.
The anti lock brake system module failed in September of 2022 and Ram is still unable to provide a replacement part. The brakes lock and the truck slides easily when pulling a trailer in rain. This is a VERY common problem and should be addressed by a recall.
The Service Electronic Braking and Service Traction Control comes on intermittently while operating the vehicle. I have had it fixed once under warranty. It is not a safe vehicle to operate without traction control and abs.
My ABS and Traction Control fault lights came on in my dash. I was towing a camper that weighs approximately 10,000lbs. and the trailer brakes did not function while this fault is active. Without the operation of the trailer brakes this is a very dangerous situation to stop that much weight. Had the code checked. Code C0020-01 is what was displayed. While this code is aluminated the trailer brakes do not function.
ABS light and Tracking control lights flicker on and off constantly. No warnings just came on one day. I have 38,000 miles on my truck not very many for warning lights to come on. I cannot use cruise control as well as about half of my controls. Including tracking control which is now permanently off and is a major hazard! Took it to the dealership in Concord, CA and was told the control module is bad. With no time frame to fix. Probably will be a fix once my warranty is up so the dealership is not liable to fix my truck. A quick search online shows this is a problem for this vehicle.
In November of 2022 I reported to the dealer that the ABS and Electronic Brakes System warning lights were intermittently coming on an off. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a hydraulic brake control module failure, but stated that the part(s) were back ordered until March of 2023. This seems to be a common problem with this model and year of truck, but Chrysler (FSA) has done nothing to resolve this safety issue. It's been 5 months now and I this issue could cause a crash or worse.
ABS HCU module was intermittent in 2020, replaced HCU Has been working fine till now. looks like I was sold the old part number. 2 years later it is throwing fault codes again. RAM has an updated part number now. This should be a recall and I shouldn't have to pay to have it replaced for the second time.
Antilock Braking system warning flashes on and off constantly. Diagnosed as HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit). DTC code is C0020-01 Researched and found RAM TSB S2005000004. Also found that MANY of these have failed. Not only that, but my dealer cannot even order a replacement part until late June 2023 and it is March 4th, 2023 now. Then, when it is ordered, may still take another 3-5 weeks to receive. My point is. This needs to be treated as a recall. Obviously there are major issues with this component, so much so, that you can't even buy one to replace the failed component. In the mean time, I have vehicle without ABS braking.
Abs/traction control lights come on and disconnects the cruise control dangerously wen pulling a trailer, code is c0020-01 this is a very common issue with these trucks parts unavailable, I-??ve talk to many other owners with same issues please address the problem before someone gets hurt thanks.
Message appeared on truck display while driving in a snowstorm, "Service Electronic Braking System". Loss of ABS/EBS control while navigating dangerous roads. Code C0020-01, ABS pump motor control is faulty.
