The electronic throttle control light will illuminate and truck will loose power. This usually happens when I take off from a red light (around 10-15 miles per hour). It has occurred as much as 3 times in a 20 mile commute. But usually at least once. The truck will almost roll to a stop and then "snap out of it." Sometimes it last for as little as 3 seconds, sometimes as much as 10 seconds. This started a few weeks ago, and continues to be a problem. It is dangerous and I have researched this is a common problem with Ram trucks.

The contact owns a 2012 Ram 3500. While driving over unleveled land at an unknown speed, the vehicle randomly stalled several times. The dealer (northern Chrysler, 23 w railroad St, cut bank, mt 59427, (406) 873-2200) diagnosed that the win module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer issued a recall for other year, make, and model vehicles concerning the electrical system, but not for the contact's year, make, and model. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

While driving my son to daycare the truck just shut off while we were driving down the road I had to coast over to the turning lane put the truck in park and it took several minutes to get the truck started back continued on our way pulled into the daycare and the truck died again after I hit a bump in the driveway and almost hit the dumpster pulling into the school because I lost steering and brakes then after 10 minutes of turning the truck on and off on and off on and off trying to get it to stay running it finally started so I called the dealership explain to them what was going on made an appointment to bring it in that day and on the way there it died again after crossing over some railroad tracks so when I got there they took the truck and then they called me today January 5th and they told me they told me it was the wind module and that it was going to cost $876 to replace it. I've noticed several recalls for the same exact problem on other vehicle models so I'm interested in knowing why if the same problems occurring on other vehicles why isn't my truck under recall??

Vehicle was parked for the weekend in my driveway and on Monday morning about to leave for work the truck started cranking over. The truck was locked and the keys were inside my house. Being a standard while it was cranking it was heading in reverse. No visual flames were seen but heavy white smoke was pouring out from under the hood. Had to use manual key to unlock the door and put truck in neutral, I then rolled the truck down my driveway and then unhooked the 2 batteries and smoking stopped. After things cleared I could see burnt/melted plug ends from wiring harness to fuse box. The truck has been at dealership for (6) weeks now. End of week 5 they got it to start up but nothing on the computer past the firewall reads. To date they have replaced (3) wiring harnesses, the fuse box and a cluster and still at a loss at why computer will not read anything. As of today the entire interior is out of the truck and they are checking every connection, relay and what ever else they can to get it fixed. There was also an inspector thru Chrysler care who investigated it before work was started. They basically told me to open an insurance claim. Thanks for the help.

Engine shuts off while driving. Ignition switch is so loose that it gets stuck between run and the off position and it makes for very fatal driving situations. The engine shuts off while driving, while parked, and anytime the vehicle is "bumped" up and down. There was a near crash on a busy interstate because of it. This ignition switch is the same issue that Dodge has recalled in their vans, but it isn't recalled in my Ram 3500 for some reason. It is a fatal flaw that will eventually cause a serious accident. Dodge has a file of this and refuses to pay for it to be fixed even though they know that it can cause a fatal crash.

The 1st time this happened was as I was rounding a corner, onto a road I was turning onto. I pushed on the throttle pedal and nothing happened. The pedal was dead !!! after 2-3 seconds of holding the pedal down, the engine came to life and sped up. Sense then, this has happened more frequently. When starting from a stop light, going around corners and curves. It happens after leaving off the throttle, before passing, then a dead pedal trying to speed up to pass. This is specially dangerous when I am pulling my 5th wheel trailer and need the power to help control the truck and trailer !! having the cruse control on or off seems not to make a difference. After pressing and getting a dead throttle, the power comes back, after holding the pedal down for a few to several seconds. This may cause an accident, by a possible rear-end accident from another vehicle. I had this happen on a 2000 Ford 250 diesel and the throttle pedal was replaced and it solved the dead pedal situation. I'm frightened of get stranded in the mountains or in the desert as I travel across the usa, where I can't get cell phone reception for help.

Recalls: P65 diesel fuel heater, potential fuel leak and fire. Ram does not have parts to fix, refuses loaner vehicle until parts are avaliable. Vehicle not safe to drive N49 left tie rod, requested appointment to have repaired appointment never made by dealer. Emmission control problems related to O2 sensors and wiring, paid $387 to have repairs made, not repaired and not under warranty according to Ram. Engine stops running requires code clearing thru obd2 system to get running out of "limp" mode. Dealers aware of issues, multiple tsb, but no fix works.

Driving at speed hit bump or key brushed leg(usually when going from accelerator to brake but not always) & ignition turned off, had to put in neutral & re start. This has happened about 10-15 times at slow speeds and at highway speeds. The dealer could not duplicate when the truck was in for service. Only have my house key & truck keys on key ring. The latest incident happened last night driving at about 25 mph on a unlit, curvey, bumpy road ignition shut off lost all power including lights & I know that the key did not hit my leg because the keys were flipped on top of the ignition key(generally do this all the time). Originally this happened at random but is now occurring more frequently.

While driving on the freeway at 50mph went to accelerate to pass a truck and nothing happened. Dead pedal, a big truck was coming up behind me and he had to hit the brakes as I was now in the left lane. He went to the right to avoid me. This has happened countless times. Dealer cannot figure out the problem, as no codes are set. They have replaced the apps, which is the gas pedal, the brake light switch, the ECM, the egr. None of these made a difference. Been back at least ten times for them to put truck on there computer, and no codes. They say, can't fix what they don't see. Dealer left the work order open for a long time so no evidence of all the come backs were recorded. Dealer is 40 miles away. Twice in one minute, one time only truck would not move from a stoplight. This only happened one time. I can make the truck do its dead pedal thing, but its out of warranty. It has something to do with the exhaust brake. It sounds like the brake is on, pumping the pedal does no good, just put it to the floor wait 3 or more seconds and will downshift and off we go. Like I said, when going to pass, moving into the left lane on a hill and nothing happens, just a little scary. I think it is a safety issue, it could create an accident. Rear ended..

In August 2012 the engine warning light came on. It was taken to Dodge dealer numerous times for repair. They would reset saying Chrysler would not allow repairs. In October the Dodge dealer kept the vehicle until a week or so before christmas 2012. The engine warning light has stayed off. However within a few days of the vehicles return, I received a recall notice regarding the left tie rod ball stud....which could cause crash without warning. I immediately called the Dodge dealer. He said Chrysler was not supplying the repair parts. He put me on a list. I have called the dealer many times and he says I am at the top of the list for repairs but Chrysler is only shipping one or two parts for the repairs per month.

2012 Dodge Ram 3500 laramie. Consumer states problem with the brake controller the consumer stated a dealer helped him install a universal brake controller, but it did not work correctly. The consumer stated he was able to use it, with the hand control, but not the foot control. The brakes would become very hot from trying to stop the equipment trailer without the brake controller working properly. The consumer stated when the brakes overheated, it damaged other components. Also, the headlights would go out at random times while driving at night. There was an electrical burning smell emitting from the vehicle. The consumer also stated the vehicle needed a new wiring harness and new axles. Updated 08/14/12
