Apparently we are not the only ones who have had this problem with our 2007 Subaru Tribeca. Every few days, the car sticks in park, won't start, and all the lights on the dashboard come on. Sometimes it is a matter of minutes before it eventually starts. Other times it's hours. And a few times it has been the next day. It has been taken to the dealership where we bought it brand new in 2007. Originally, they said it was a simple problem; that the computer had to be updated. The joys of technology! Now, after being in their garage for 3 additional times (without the problem solved), all we get from them is, "We don't know how to fix the car we sold you a few years ago."

The car is now at a garage not affiliated with Subaru, and although they are working harder at finding the problem, it has still not been determined. Our family has bought 3 brand new Subarus over the past 12 years, and although we love the car, it is very discouraging to hear that they don't know how to fix it. To say that we are disenchanted with Subaru is an understatement. Is there anyone else out there with a similar problem? We would love to hear is you ever found a fix. After browsing for a few minutes, we have already come across several other people who have shared similar stories. Is there a potential recall? If Subaru is listening, what do you have to say about this?

Sincerely,

Justin P. Aaron

I have the new Subaru Tribeca 9 2007. I have it on lease from February 2007. The problem with transmission come out on just 800 miles. Imagine brand new car. The transmission gear locked on parking. There was no way to shift it. As long with that I got the traction tire light and the ABS light. The transmission was locked for couple hours, while I was contacting the Service Department and no one really helped me. I did call towing company. During that time the transmission gear unlocked. The Subaru Service Department told me to drive the car to the Service. I went there and they check the car. They said that they saw the lights on the computer, they reset the lights and they said that this is nothing to worry about because is for first time. Ok, I did drive my car back home.

Second time the transmission gear locked on 1521 miles. Again no way to shift it. The transmission gear stays on parking, no way to shift it an d move the car. I did call towing. The car was towed. The car went on Service again for 9 days. No one really found the problem. They did couple testing, they changed some parts on the transmission. I went there to pick up my car. They said it should work. No problems. I drove back home again.

Wow, until yesterday!!!!! The transmission gear locked again on 2700 miles. The transmission gear unlocked after 30 minutes and I did drove the car back to Service. I did asked them: What are we doing now? This is for 3 rd time and have no nerves to deal with that. I want to return the car, but why I have to do it at my expense when their car is not working. They said that they have to find the problem and they are not the people to exchange the car ( The Service Department) The Service manager told me that he knows that this is manufacture problem from the first time they check car, but they can not do nothing about it because they need to find the problem and if there is no way to fix it, then the Manufacture will replace the car. And the Manager of Subaru told me that he is not the person to replace the car. So interesting, no one want to help me at all. No one really know how long will the car stay there on Service and if they really will find the problem to fix it.

It is really difficult to deal with things like this in my life. Subaru can not find and fix the problem. They don't want to brake the lease because of the bank and they don't want to replace the car. And I have to drive their really dirty loaner cars that they give you when my car goes on service. I can not believe that!!!!

I don't think that I have to drive a car for 3 years on lease breaking down at all the time. And if the same problems comes for 3 time that's a real problem!!!! And why I have to send payments every month for what? For there loaner car the Forester. I did not got me Forester on lease, I got me on lease the Tribeca 9.

I like Subaru, I love to drive it, but after this problems I am not going to recommend it to anybody , even to test drive the Subaru. They are very comfortable and nice to drive it, but when you have problems no one cares about it. The Service Department follows rules, The Manager of Subaru Sales Departments follows rules and I even call the Headquarters and they promise to call back today, but no one called me , yet.

I can not believe that!!!!!!
