Same problem. I know its a CVT transmission so for lack of a better term I will say it shifts. Once car hits 35-40mph RPMs reach 2000 - 2500 and stays there until car/transmission warms up or about 3 minutes of driving. Once car/transmission warms up car will shift and RPMs will reduce to normal 1200 rpm for 40mph.

Legacy Premium 2.5i

When the engine is warm, if the car is stopped waiting to turn or for a red light, when the accelerator is pressed, it may take as long as 5 or 6 seconds before the car responds. The engine stays at the normal idle RPM. If the accelerator is pressed further, the car suddenly jumps forward after several seconds. This is an extremely dangerous defect, particularly when making a turn with oncoming traffic or if there is an obstruction in front of the car. The local dealer states that they have never had this complaint from any customer although the internet is replete with Subaru owners who are experiencing this problem.

Just copied similar complain as the same as mine. I took it to be serviced and was told that it would correct itself by 4000 miles. I have been stuck in the middle of the road with a car coming at me twice this week. Both times the car got going before other car arrived. I have tried to duplicate the problem but have been unable to do it.
