I bought this truck with fairly low miles. The seller mentioned he had changed ALL the gaskets. Including the headgasket. I assume he didn't torque everything to specs. A month later I took it to a Toyota mechanic and said the spark plugs in cylinder 3 had coolant, the mechanic said it was obvious somebody had been in the engine. Most 22re's will not have coolant in the oil like most people think it's the way to tell if you have a HG leak. This engine will most likely push the coolant out of the engine into the reservoir.

I've seen head gasket failures in these engines due to overheating them. This is not "COMMON" if you will but It happens. The common problem with this engine is the timing chain be sure to change it every 90k. The guides are made outta plastic and need to be changed like a timing "belt".
