Again was on vacation and the lights went out at night going 65mph. Very dangerous on highway. Had to stop due to danger of self and family. Was very disappointed in the vehicle. Toyota.. please help with these dangerous and hazardous 2007 Prius.
Bought the 2007 Prius used in 2014 from my Brother in Law who had purchased the car new. In 2015 started having problems with the headlights. Asked if he had problems or had them replaced, he said no. So I paid the Toyota dealership approximately $500.00 to replace. Less that three years later, same problem Called the dealership and was told there was nothing they would do. $500.00 for three years. I have had $10.00 lights that have lasted 10 years. I also asked if they could change the headlights into the other style of headlights that was available on the Prius of that model and they said no.
I would have been covered under the extended warranty but didn't realize it at the time. I purchased a set of bulbs from Amazon 11/11/15 Maxlux HID Xenon Bulbs D4R 6000K and replaced them myself. Now, 2 years later, the passenger bulb is flickering and going out intermittently again for the third time since owning the car. The passenger taillight went out as well and I have been pulled over by the police for it.
Toyota developed very poor engineering and poor judgement for changing a $15 light bulb results in having to remove the front bumper to access the burned out bulb and replace it costing $300 in labor charges.
Fixed lights. Then they broke again and fuses got changed and time wasted money spent Now there's a nice dent in my very new car I kicked the stupid car. Dealers claim to know nothing of the problem and say we need to go to corporate Toyota

okay...third time is NOT charming. So far have replaced the bulbs in this prius every six months - 3 times so far. What gives? Not a fluke, as this is a continuing problem.
What and when is Toyota doing something about this lighting glitch with their Prius?
Uber driver here who had both headlights burnout at dusk while driving a passenger to the airport a month after buying the car. Had to drive 30 miles home in the dark with no headlights. This became the first time of NINE headlights (low beams) to burn out over then next 12 months, usually every 2000-3000 miles or 100-300 hours of use. Toyota blamed me with every excuse in the book when I used new Phillips bulbs from Pepboys each time, had different mechanics install them for me (gloved hands each time!) and still had the problem REPEATEDLY.
This is the third time in less than a year that I have had to replace my headlights! It always starts the same way, the right headlight starts to randomly stop working then usually two days later the other goes out AND NEITHER EVER TURN BACK ON! High beams continue to work and have never been replaced.
Have had the recurring problem of headlights going off intermittently. The first 2 were fixed by Toyota service replacing the bulbs. Over 400 the first time. 300 the second time. Interesting how they reduce the price of the bulb by $100. between incidents.
A third time, I had the bulb replaced by a local mechanic. After that we noticed moisture in the headlight assembly and also a rusted ballast that was replaced for over 700 dollars.
A month later, the light has gone out again.. Have an appointment with my mechanic. I would actually have Toyota fix it, but the previous repair is still under warranty by my mechanic.
My car has 195,000 miles and all in all I'm quite satisfied with it, but this problem is extremely exasperating and would not buy a Prius again.
About 6 months ago one of my head lights went out. I had it replaced ($60). The very next day the other headlight went out (aargh). Had it replaced for another $60. Six months go by. Headlight number 1 goes out again (are you kidding me?). Had it replaced ($60). guess what happened the very next day? of course - the other head light went out?! What the heck?
This is the fourth time I have had to change my headlight in two years. This has been an ongoing issue since the electrical failure from the water pump recall.
Took my Prius to Firestone. They replaced the 9003 halogen capsule guess that means headlight. Went to leave, decided to check lights. The opposite light was out so I had to have it done. They stated that when one goes the other seems to follow.
I had both headlights fixed in March 2012 and about 6 months later the right side headlight went out again, the first time I took it to the dealer and they wanted to charge me too much money my car was not under warranty, so I took it to GoodYear to get it fixed cheaper. and now the right side headlight went out again, so I will NOT get it fixed again unless I get a fix it ticket. I will never buy another Toyota again.
