I bought this 2010 Toyota Prius in 2016 with 37,000 miles (59,545.73 km) on it. Since then, I have kept it well maintained and up-to-date; have had Toyota Service do major tune-ups, replace all faulty parts and fix recalls.
This intermittent ruff idle will occur after I have been driving for several minutes. At a stop light, suddenly the engine idle feels slightly ruff, have my foot on the brake and will tap the throttle and sometimes that make it go away; or, in most cases, it stops on its own. It doesn't ever last long, and it doesn't occur all day. It sounds to me like it is an engine component that is effected by a variable, i.e., heat, electricity, cold, debris etc.
First, I am going to try a gas cleaning additive and see if that fixes the problem, it could be clogged injectors. Or, I am wondering if it could be the spark plugs, but they only have 56,000 miles (90,123.26 km) on them. I will go through a process of elimination to find out what is going on.
I recently plugged in my OBD2 device, and it shows that there are no codes and that everything is green. Hmmm?
