Notice oil sheen forming under right/front side of vehicle when washed/parked.
My local mechanic diagnosed it as coming from the AC Accumulator area.
Toyota dealer confirmed the AC Accumulator was leaking due to corrosion and related accumulator component separation. The AC Accumulator part was 8847047020 manufactured by Denso.
Accumulator - $3,232.12
Labor - 786.00
Total - $4,018.12
The AC Accumulator on Prius and RAV4 Primes is placed low and just in front of the right front wheel well leaving it unusually susceptible to corrosion or damage in the case of even a minor collision or bump to the right front fender area. It appears to be a rare situation/occurrence but if it does occur, ouch! And component failure at only 39K miles is even rarer. Possible manufactuing defect on this unit?
