I was here at Toyota dealer trying to fix my engine oil problem and end up with another problem.

Hay, your water pump is leaking. It is cheaper than the engine oil problem and only $600. Toyota, pissedconsumer.com has more than 100 complaints. It is time for us to file class action.

Well, I reported the first time the water pump failed 62k of my RAV4 2008. Since service was very accommodating and covered it under warranty ( it was about 2 k out) it was more of an annoyance / bad surprise. However 35k later I am at service at. 95k and I am told it is failing again ? The cost to fix is $500+. I am very disappointed and have been seeing on other forums that this is a known problem with these vehicles. Do I have to get this replaced every 35k going forward? This might be a Toyota deal breaker. Will definitely kick Nd scream for Toyota to chip in.

Bought brand new and have taken care of it. Done every maintenance as per dealer program . Why the water pump to be failing with only 30,000 miles? Hope Toyota will take notice and investigate and recall the defective water pumps!

RAV4 LX V4

I bought this car brand new and have taken great care of it. Oil changes every 3,000 miles done by the dealer. There is NO reason for the water pump to be failing at 83,000 miles. I am reading of many other people with the same problem so I wanted to add mine to the list so hopefully Toyota will take notice and investigate and recall the defective water pumps!
