The dynamic radar cruise control in my 2016 Limited stinks. I put a lot of highway kilometers on it, and with any moderate incline, it downshifts, and the RPM's rise to 3500-3600 rpm (normal right?).
Unfortunately, it doesn't up shift until well after the incline has leveled, and when it does (about 10 seconds later), the RPM's shoot up to 4500 just before it up shifts. This happens at every hill and can be heard even with the radio on.
I've complained to toyota, and they told me it's normal behavior. I dropped it off this morning for scheduled maintenance, and have again asked them to look at it. How will this affect the engine and transmission over the long run? I'm not even carrying passengers, or a load in the back.
Am considering trading it in for a Honda CRV.
