This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My vsc trac, vsc ff and ABS light come on. This problem seem to happen on most of the Sequoia. The dealer told me it the rate sensor need to be replaced.
Brake warning light comes on periodicaly. Vsc light shows on and off. Brakes are unresponsive at times. All three lights come on and off. Traction control is activated without warning. Took to dealership today and had to pay $2,000 for a new brake booster and skid control ECU. I have seen the same problem with many other Toyota. It is a safety issue and should be part of a recall campaign.
Power brakes quit working while driving. Approx 8 times, when coming to a stop or backing out of a parking space, the power brakes go out. Sometimes, codes appear on the dash and sometimes they don't. I usually have to restart the car to get it to work again. I have taken it in to the dealership twice and they can't find anything wrong.
I have a 2006 Toyota Sequoia. The vsc & trac lights as well as the brake light and the tire pressure light started coming on in the morning, usually when cold. Not sure exactly when this started but it has been happening for years now. The lights usually go off when the engine is shut off and usually the only time it is an issue is when the weather gets the slightest bit cool. After researching this issue online, I am seeing that this appears to be a very common problem and apparently there have been some brake related issues (vehicle not braking properly) also associated with these lights, although there has not been a recall to date.
