This was a beautiful truck when I bought it. I kept it waxed and clean until this started happening. The clear coat on the paint job started coming off all over my truck. The dark blue with the TRD decals looked awesome and it was a big reason why I bought it. Now... it looks like crap. The clear coat is coming off the roof, side over the TRD decals, the bumper, and the fender flairs. I am really disgusted with what is going on with the paint job on this truck. I know it is a manufacturer defect in the clear coat of the paint job.

I have owned two older Toyota trucks. One was a 1986 red truck and the other a 1999 deep purple truck. I put a lot of miles on both of the trucks and never had this happen to the paint on either truck. This is a 2005 Toyota Pre-Runner TRD and it looks awful now. I believe there should be a recall on this truck to fix the problem. Getting it painted would cost me a lot of money, and it isn't even my fault.

I have seen Toyota trucks 15 years older with good paint on the roofs and hoods. My truck was less than 10 years old when I noticed the rooftop was peeling/rusting out. Then the hood quickly followed, but with the paint fading then peeling in the center of the hood. I never did anything to compromise the integrity of the paint. I've had to apply anti-rust spray to keep it from further damage. It seems the manufacturer either didn't use proper primer or hurried the paint work. The rest of the truck is in perfect color condition, paint completely vanished from the center of the hood and the whole rooftop.

i have seen other toyota tacoma trucks with similar problems. I have seen toyota trucks 15 years older with good paint on the roofs and hoods. this is not right that a truck less then ten years old has no paint on the roof. I never abused the roof and hood but the paint is not good on the hood and completely gone on the roof.

Really dissatisfied with the paint job. top of truck has lost all the paint, down to bare rusted metal, now my electrical compass and ext. temp. gauge have stopped working, apparently the sensors are on the roof and now rusted along with the paint. I'm pissed off.

Last year I went to wax my Tacoma and I noticed some sort of spider web cracking going on with my paint on the roof of the cab. The next day I took the truck down to Toyota and the service manager agreed that there was something wrong with the paint and that he had another Tacoma come in with the same problem. He told me I would have to wait for a Toyota representative to come in. Well fast forward a year later, the Toyota representative never came in and Toyota refuses to help. Now I'm stuck with a rusty looking truck and an estimate from my local Auto Body.
