I was pulling into a curb parking space when suddenly the engine on my truck accelerated. My foot was already on the brake so I pushed all the way to the floor but I was slowly moving forward anyway. My brakes were smoking from trying to stop my truck. I hit the back of a parked car and pushed it approximately two parking spaces before I thought to turn the engine off.

[xxx] 2005 Toyota Tacoma which flipped onto its side in December, since then Toyota has provided 5 months of run-around and refused to acknowledge damages, etc. I met with a Toyota engineer who checked the brakes, said everything was fine, didn't both looking at the mats or anything else at all. I responded by saying if you're sweating and your left hand is numb, its probably B/C of something else it definitely isn't a heart attack, right? information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Braking is too slow. When stopping under dry conditions this vehicle takes too long to stop. Dealer was notified. Dealer stated that was 'normal' for anti-lock braking systems. Dealer would not take any action. To improve braking ABS brakes were disabled by removing fuse. Even with this braking to a stop takes longer than with other vehicles under same conditions. This problem is on-going and has nearly caused several rear-end collisions.

I was skeptical about this brake override until the sudden acceleration actually happened to me on 3/5/2010. I was on the freeway traveling 50 mph in moderate traffic when a construction truck decided to turn into my lane. I gave it a quick punch to avoid a collision when I felt my RPM's kept climbing as I was no longer on the pedal. I panicked and tried to apply the brakes to no response, so I tapped the shifter into neutral. At this point my car is still accelerating in redline. Finally, the car snaps out of it and I have control again. I slow down, shift back into D and continue my commute to school. In the past, I have noticed a few times there have been a slight lunge in acceleration just after the transmission switches gears. I love my Tacoma. I have been in denial and have been hoping, wishing that there isn't a problem. But for the safety of myself and my passengers, I am going to make sure this problem is noted before anyone one gets hurt. I would hate for anything serious to happen and leave people wondering. I feel the need to report this complaint. Could this be something as simple as a stuck throttle body? I hope the resolution to this will be simple and rewarding, I would hate to give up this truck. I had an accident last August while driving my Toyota Tacoma prerunner. I was slowing down in a turn lane and I could not get the truck to stop which made me continue into oncoming traffic. The damage to my truck was over $8,000. And I do not know the dollar amount cased to the other car but it sustained major to the front of that car. The other car hit me on the driver side near the front wheel and back wheel areas. I did not receive a ticket but I was noted as the cause of the accident. I also ended up in the emergency room. No air bags went off I guess because it did not hit me in the front. I am not sure of the exact day of the accident so I put the 15th of the month. I can get the exact from my insurance company when needed.

The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Tacoma. While attempting to park the vehicle in reverse, the contact had to apply extreme pressure to the accelerator pedal. He then depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to stop and continued to move in reverse. The vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle. A passenger was injured. The ambulance was not called to the scene and the vehicle was able to be driven. The insurance company had the vehicle repaired and a diagnostic was performed. At this time, the cause of the failure is still unknown. The speed was unknown as well. The failure mileage was 36,000 and current mileage was 46,000.

During recent cold winter weather, had couple incidents where brakes appeared to not operate correctly on moderate ice/slushy road condition and this caused on one occasion to run through intersection due to not being able to stop the vehicle being fortunate that no other traffic was present at the time. This all comes after a transmission replacement at 6271 miles and rear brake work on the vehicle at 6558 miles. This truck is like a lemon.

On two occasions the brakes have failed in wet conditions. The first occurred when going through standing water of about 5" under normal temperature. The second occurred after going through a car wash in temperature of 39 degrees. After going through the car was I was traveling about 5 mph through a parking lot to park in front of a convenience store, the truck stuck the curb, and nearly struck propane tanks stored in front of store. After drying the vehicle and waiting about 15 minutes I proceeded to the intersection in front of business and brakes failed again.

I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 4 door and ever since taking it off the lot 5 days ago, when applying the brakes in any weather, on any surface of road, I get a thumping in the pedal and the steering wheel when applying the brakes to stop. It gets worse with more pressure applied to the brakes. The front end seems to bounce, and feels like it will go out of control. The truck has 230 miles on it, I will be calling the dealer today.
