My 2005 Toyota Tacoma DBL cab 4X4 w/manual 6spd transmission started shifting hard into 3rd gear, so we brought it to dealer and had transmission checked to find metal shavings is fluid. They told us that there was another 05 tacoma with the same problem and they were changing the 3rd gear out of the trany. Worse case is that transmission needs to be replaced at about $4,600.00 or if lucky just 3rd gear repalced. Read online other similar problems with Tacomas. I am just over a month out of 5 yr warranty and way under milage. I have right under 46,300 miles with up keep at dealer. Luckly I have MBI with my auto insurance company, so will only pay $250.00 to fix (thank you gecko). Will start to consider Chevy or Nissan for next vehicle. Maybe even replace our 04 Corolla which is falling apart on the inside. I also had the TSB for leafspring taken care of on this truck.
