Put my 2007 Tacoma into reverse and gave it a little gas and all of a sudden the throttle went wide open and I almost took out 6 cars in my works parking garage. WHILE IN REVERSE....Really scary but after first pressing the gas peddle which did nothing then went to the brakes but still did nothing and the rear tires were screeching loudly from spinning so fast at full throttle.I finally threw it into neutral and stomped on the brakes and then turned off the truck with the key. I could have killed someone that day. Took my truck to Toyota and they said that nothing was wrong....great so now I have to drive at the ready because Toyota ignored it and I know its a possibility that it could happen again. It's not right! I love my truck and support Toyota and should not be brushed off.

Tacoma SR5 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

Hi. Myself and my wife had an incident last summer. We where driving on a country road towing a 16' aluminum boat (thank god it was flat and straight) when we came up on a group of motorcycles on a cruise. I pulled out to pass and pressed hard on the accelerator (as not to take too long) and the peddle went to the floor,,, away from my foot. I tried pulling back on the peddle with my foot (barefoot). braking, downshifting (automatic), etc, etc,. NOTHING WORKED!! I knew we where coming up on a town with one stop sign,,,and told my wife to hold on!! We were pushin 90+ about 1 mile from town and I threw it in neutral. The engine hit the rev limiter twice before it stop revving and with it in neutral I was able to regain control. I reported the incident to my local dealer and got the raised eye brow, I see this year they are blaming this on the floor mats, I DON"T THINK SO!!!! Not Impressed!
