Tacoma TRD OR 3.5L V6

The truck is brand new and I want to be easy on the motor and trans so everything will wear in nicely as the miles roll up. I plan to keep it for many years to come but the adaptive cruise control is worrying. My commute is mainly highway with a few hills.

So here's the scenario: Speed for the RCC is set at 70mph, following a car doing 55, when they move out of the way the truck drops down 2 sometimes 3 gears, gets up to redline, when reaching the set speed, will hold that gear in the high rpm band for longer than necessary when the demand for power isn't that serious. The truck just taking off like that makes me feel like the throttle was pinned wide open and flashbacks of the "stuck" accelerator fiasco from years past come back. Its unnecessary ware on the motor and trans and how aggressive it is can't be adjusted in any way.

Now my family have been long time Toyota owners and that trickled down to me when I got my first truck. A simple 2wd regular cab Tacoma with the 4 cyl and 5 speed from my grandfather at 180K miles. I used it for work and took it up to 240K before giving it back still kicking and trouble free. After getting some money got this new truck I'm concerned it won't live up to that reliability. Yes I know base models tend tp last longer but still I never drive like that. Opt in for the manual if you can find them.
