XM radio will disconnect when under mild tree cover. This is unacceptable because XM in my area uses a ground based transmitter as well as satellite transmission. On a 2024 Canyon, 2025 Acadia, 2023 Audi Q8, and a 2025 Canyon, never had this issue. On my 2020 RAV4, no problem. It's something with the 2025 Tacoma (maybe others too), the XM radio appears not to be able to receive the ground based transmitters for XM. That is the only reasonable explanation. But what is weird, my 2020 RAV4 which I currently own, does not have that problem.
Any obstruction will cause the 2025 Tacoma to drop the broadcast of XM radio. Frustrating because I've had XM radio since its inception on many car radios, and add on radios, and understand how this works. There is no visible signal strength meter available on the radio, to see how strong the signal is for XM for satellite reception and for ground based transmitters. This is the first car that has had XM radio drop while any small obstruction occurs. My guess, again, is that the radio is not receiving the ground based signals and maybe related to the antenna?
