Chronic rear axle seal leakage (leaks gear lube). Dealer has attempted to repair my problem 3 times since 2005. Dealer cannot repair problem. This is a known issue with Toyota trucks and SUVS using a similar rear axle design. It is a fire hazard since gear lube leaks onto hot exhaust piping. It is a braking hazard since gear lube contaminates rear brakes and reduces braking power. Seals begin to leak early in life of vehicle but are not dealt with until leak is noted (after seals have been leaking for some time) and problem is severe.
