I was washing my truck October,1,2023 and while spraying the underside with water I noticed the fuel tank hanging extremely low from the back while further inspection I observed the rear fuel tank strap had rusted off and the tank was hanging by the front strap which is very corroded along with all inner structure and frame rails which is rusted corroded and completely rotted out. This truck has been very well maintained and has only 104354 miles on it.

The air injection pumps went out. Vehicle could not get out of limp mode, was very dangerous as I couldnt get up to speed while merging onto traffic. Had to put hazards on and drive vehicle home under 25mph. Vehicles were going around me. Vehicle is scheduled to be looked at by a dealer, but still recommend this be a safety issue!!

Secondary air injection switching valve failed while changing lanes causing my vehicle to go into creep mode and almost cause a colision with vehicle behind me due to no power. My understanding is that this is a serious and re occuring issue that has been around for some time and I am just now being made aware of it by Toyota who claims this is not a safety issue. Could have died in this car incident.

I am having problems with my truck. When driving it. It looses power. Engine shakes.. goes from okay to loss of power to back to having power. In codes are showing up when placed on the computer. I have replaced spark plugs and wires. I took the truck to Toyota and they advised me that their has been recalls with fuel pump and could be the problem I am having.

Rear left fuel tank bracket broke off from truck frame. It appears to have broken at weld. See photo. Noticed problem while driving due to bracket rubbing against driveshaft and scraping on road. Previously, fuel tank bracket on same vehicle snapped and had to be replaced. Truck towed to shop for repair. I will keep broken part once removed from truck.

Frame mount for gas tank has rusted and fuel tank is dropping down. Last year an undercoating was applied by a Toyota dealer and is peeling off in certain areas. I believe pursuant to the class action lawsuit referred to as brian warner et al Toyota motor corporation my vehicle may be covered under warranty because the gas tank strap mounting is part of the frame. As of now, my mechanic advised me not to drive it as it is a safety hazard. I noticed the tank strap was hanging down from the frame and the gas tank was also hanging down while the vehicle was parked in my driveway.

Toyota acknowledges a problem with their air intake valve and has extended the warranty period. The warranty is too short, too little miles, and only covers the repair one time. My vehicle is experiencing this problem for the 3rd time even though they claim that their repair fixed the problem the first time, and claims no one else experienced the problem a second time (although I have).

Case # [xxx] ( filed with Toyota) on Jan 3rd while returning home from having brakes replaced on my 2008 Tundra my vehicle engine died on a busy 4 lane road with heavy traffic. I lost my ability to steer immediately. Fortunately I was in the right hand lane and was able to pull into a parking lot before I lost total momentum of the vehicle. I tried restarting and it would not. I checked all the indicaters and everything appeared normal. Fuel gauge registered 1/4 full which would equate to approximately 5-7 gallons. After exhausting all efforts to restart the truck I called for a tow truck. When the tow truck arrived I explained to him what was happening and he suggested it might be out of gas!!!...I showed him the fuel gage indicator showing the 1/4 level and he told me that his dad also had a Tundra and had experienced issues with the fuel tank float hanging giving false readings of what the actual fuel level was. He suggested we take the truck to the nearest gas station and put a few gallons in prior to taking the truck to the service department. Once we added some gasoline the truck started right up. I was shocked and upset for a number of reason. 1. I just paid a tow service $75 dollars for taking me down the road about a half block to a local convenient store to put gas in my truck. 2. I started realizing what a dangerous safety issue this is. I could have just as well been traveling down the highway at 70 miles per hour and have my engine just quit on me!! the ramifications of that are quite scary as to all the accident scenarios that could occur to include loss of life for not only the driver of the failed vehicle but those traveling close by as well. Driving up a; hill all the sudden it loses power going U a hill all my dash light starts to blink check engine light 4 hi lo are blinking and starts to shake thru a P2442 code this is suppose to be a quality built truck for air injection pumps to be going out and after reading all the issues Toyota has had on the 07 and 08 you think they would put better parts in the trucks. After reading about this issue it is common anywhere from 11,000 to 60,000 miles this issue is a 1,700 out of pocket us doing this our self will never do business with Toyota after it breaking at 40,000 miles.
