For the Capstone trim of the Toyota Tundra, Toyota did not provide owners the option to turn off the Auto Start/Stop. It is awful. I love my truck and it have a lot of potential. Great daily driver, and very fun to drive with the power and torque it has. However, it does not make sense for the computer to turn off the engine whenever it wants. It is understandable why Toyota designed it like that, but that feature makes no sense when the vehicle is being driven in any other mode besides "ECO" mode. Or "self destruction mode." I am no engineer, just a DIY guy. However, I understand a thing or two about vehicles.

Please correct me if I am wrong. It makes no sense for Americans to be driving pickup trucks are focused on so much economy. The Electric motor is great coupled with the V6 motor and twin turbos. We like fun, horsepower, and reliability. Stopping and starting the engine 22 times for a 10 to 15 minute trip makes no sense. The engine should always be running. It is very concerning because the engine goes through more wear and tear during the startup cycles. Toyota may say that as long as the oil is at proper operating temperature, the engine would not go through excessive wear and tear, but what if it is too hot and the oil viscosity is too low, or too cold and the engine viscosity is too high. I prefer the engine to run like a normal non hybrid vehicle but having the added power of the electric motor. When taking off from a stop light, the electric motor is always the part that gets you moving, then when the engine starts, you get hit with unpredictable amount of torque. Sometimes, these truck even feel like they are about to stall when the engine is turning on and the electric motor is stopping.

Also, the braking system being controlled electronically can be dangerous. you press the brakes and at highway speeds, it feels like the vehicle wants to keep going because the computer seems to begin to release pressure on the brakes. The more control I have, and the more predictable the vehicle, the safer it is.

P.S. I hope Toyota is taking notes because those of us who own their vehicles will not stop warning other consumers. I love my truck and am brand loyal to Toyota. However, I paid for what I own and expect nothing but excellence from an almost $80,000 truck.

We consumers need to stand up for ourselves because if not, they will continue to add more "Technology" that is simply meant to control our every move.
