Car wouldn't start 2 weeks ago. Took to dealer, was told that the wiring harness was corroded and needed to be replaced. Paid to have it replaced. Exactly 2 weeks later, car wouldn't start again. When AAA arrived to jump start car, and hood was raised. It was noticed that wiring harness was not returned to its original position and the battery cover was laying to the side. Took back to dealer. Now I'm told that the alternator AND battery both need to be replaced to the tune of $1200. Ironically, this will be the 3rd battery this car has had. When the car was just under 1 year old, the car wouldn't start. Took to dealer 3 times, but of course it would start for them each time. On the 3rd time, they replaced the battery. So, approximately 2 years later, I'm replacing the battery again!

the problem started around 15000 mile and has continued. six months ago vw towed vechicle in to dealer and dealer told me nothing was wrong with car yet i was stranded and car would start for 3 days. at 30000 miles the dealer told me the problem happened with them and the had fixed it by replacing the igition. i went to gatlingberg tn and 2 times the car would not start but finally did. this past friday night i came in from work and parked the car on the driveway.. when i went to put car in garage it would not crank--would not crank sat, sunday, or monday--vw picked up car monday and dealer calls me and says something needs to be cleaned and warrany will not pay for this and it is 300. the wrecker driver tells me he has picked up several of these cars with the same problem. the left window drivers side when it gets to the top it reverses and goes back down--complained about this the last 3 services and has not been fixed. every light bulb on the front has been replace--this time the left headlamp totally out, last service right headlamp and before fog lamps (both). my wife has a 2001 bettle tdi and none of these things have happened with it.. yesterday i talked to a vw america representative and was told she would check into this and call me back the same day and she has not called back--thru the years i have bought 23 new autos this is the 2nd worse car i have ever owned--
