Nissan Recalls Cars With Bad Door Latches
Nissan recalls popular cars with door latches that can allow the doors to open while you're driving.

— Nissan is recalling over 6,500 model year 2015 Nissan Rogues, Sentras and Versa Notes to fix doors that can open while the cars are moving.

Nissan says a problem at the supplier caused the door latch mounting plates to be manufactured out of specification. The doors could fail to latch because the mechanism which captures the door striker could fail and cause the doors to appear latched and closed when they are not.

According to Nissan, the only doors affected by the recall are the driver-side front and rear doors.

The automaker says the recalled 2015 Nissan Rogues were manufactured June 9, 2015, to June 10, 2015, and the 2015 Nissan Sentra and Versa Note cars were built June 5, 2015, to June 13, 2015.

The recall won't begin until the middle of September, so owners of the 2015 Nissan Rogue, Sentra and Versa Note should be careful to assure the doors are latched and locked. Dealers will need to inspect the date, lot number and other codes on the left front and rear door latches. Any bad latches will be replaced.

Owners of the recalled 2015 Nissan Rogue, Nissan Sentra and Nissan Versa Note can always contact the automaker at 800-647-7261.
