Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety. Notes: The 2004 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, and engine problems from the NHTSA complaint data — so it's not a model year we can recommend.

The rear hatch glass hinge bolts sheared on both hinges during hatch closure. The rear hatch glass is only held on by rear shocks. The inside bolts both have some corrosion. The rear glass is not damaged.

The temperature outside was around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. There were no known cracks or damage to the window. The vehicle was sitting at an atm machine when it spontaneously shattered.

I have a 2004 Ford Escape the rear window blew out while the car was parked. This is the second time on the Escape that this has happened to me personally. I have numerous friends that have had the same problem with these rear windows. I wonder if there is a design flaw with the rear window? very dangerous. I have the window company coming to replace another window.
