CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, so it's not a model year we can recommend.
Also the base model Escape did not come with side airbags so it received a "Poor" rating from the IIHS for side impact protection. Other similar 2007 models like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V & Hyundai Santa Fe scored far better.

So aside from what everyone else wrote - heavily using WD40 in the hinges, in the locks. I'm oiling this car up like a stripper. Seems to at least get me through the night - sent it to a car alarm place to fix. They promised half day. After day three of yelling at them, they gave up. I had them do a rig in the right rear door. Dome light never works right now, door ajar always on, but the alarm stopped going off for 7 months. $200 for that. - 7 months later, back to square one - argued with ford on twitter. Ford said contact a dealership, maybe they could do something. Yeah right. - 2 months after rig, O/D light came on. Oh good, another thing Ford screwed many people over about. - never, ever, buying ford again.
