CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, so it's not a model year we can recommend.

Also the base model Escape did not come with side airbags so it received a "Poor" rating from the IIHS for side impact protection. Other similar 2007 models like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V & Hyundai Santa Fe scored far better.

Bought this 2007 Ford Escape. Noticed rust under and inside car. The gaskets for moon roof & trunk failed. The paint began pelting up in 2013,

Escape XLS 2.3L

  • Automatic transmission

The paint chips all over the vehicle, the estimated cost to fix the horrible job FORD did is not even worth the money to fix it, as I would assume they would do the same horrible job when the made the car.

My car bought new has been housed in a garage every winter. It has 39,000 miles on it. Took it in to have tires rotated at Firestone Tires. They put it up on a lift and showed me how the bolts holding the muffler to the catalyic converter had rusted out. The whole undercarriage was rusted as well. Regan Ford told me there was nothing they could do as it was past warranty. Ford Motor Company told me, there was nothing they could do as they had no other complaints about rusting of undercarriages on Escapes. This cat has veen cared for and been washed numerous times during the winter, plus is not used very much. How could this happen? I have owned ten cars over the years, all in New England and have never had this problem. I think the car was not sealed properly at the factory. I will never buy another Ford again. My whole family owns Fords, father, mother,2 daughter, son-in-law.
