What is it going to take for a recall????????

abs brake system is on and off. It takes me longer to stop. The mechanics told me that it's going to be over $5,000 to get it fixed. On top of that he doesn't know for sure in the future if the system brake failure is going to come back on. you need to have a recall on this. What is it going to take for this to happen, my death? someone else's death? we all work hard for the vehicles for no one to care. how can you make someone pay so much to replace it and not be sure if its going to stay fixed. I've had problem after problem with this vehicle. can we please get a recall on this problem. no one should have to lose their life for you or whoever it is to make a point

Escape XLT 2.3L 4 cyl

  • 129,500 miles

I will say, I LOVE my 2008 Ford Escape. I've had no issues except for the radio display going out on me around 80k miles. HOWEVER, this is by far the worst problem I've had with a car. My wife AND TWO KIDS were driving the Escape when all of a sudden she lost the ability to stop the car. She had to literally push down the pedal with all of her strength to get the thing to stop and this was at 20 MPH. I took the car to Sears (it was the nearest brake shop near to me) and the recommended replacing the master cylinder. HOWEVER, there were no leaks anywhere and my calipers were completely fine. They quoted me $1300. I said heck no and told them just do the master cylinder. They did and NOTHING. Issue was still there. They kept the car for two days and could not figure it out. I fought them and told them I am not paying for anything BUT the master cylinder. So at 129K miles, I have a new master cylinder (cost $170, no labor, no diagnostic charge, just the part and fluids).

I then take my car to my preferred mechanic... after testing the vehicle and researching the MANY issues with Ford Escapes, he isolated the ABS module and found out that it was worthless. He called around and for a NEW module it was $1378.00, JUST FOR THE PART. COME ON FORD! Thankfully my mechanic is awesome and he shopped around and found me a used module with a 1 year warranty for $150. Now one would think that this was all... NOPE I had to have the dumb thing programmed to my car or the ABS light would not shut off. Another $150. SO labor, part and programming/calibration my final bill was $735.79.

All this to say, FORD YOU ARE A JOKE. This is a safety issue and this has happened to enough units that FORD should EAT THIS BILL. I've had an 02 Explorer and after spending $1700 on repairs since January of THIS YEAR, we dumped that junk for a 2011 Honda Pilot EX. Now a days, ALL cars have their issues, but really, this is pretty lame. I'd expect better out of American engineering.

I still love my Escape and will drive it till it dies or it kills me. Apparently I got one out of the "good batches" since this is my first big issue and I'm at 129k. But goodness Ford, DO SOMETHING!?!?!

Escape Limited 3.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,597 miles

My mechanic said the axle gear on the antilock braking system failed (left driver side front)....he commented it is a common occurrence on the Ford Escape 2008 model. Two months later....the right passenger axle gear failed...... Cost almost $800.00.... Including labor....none covered with my extended warranty.

Never had this happen on the numerous vehicles I have owned in the past 37 years.

Disappointed with Ford for not recalling this defect.

After paying for NRA for two show tickets we pulled over at Gastonia. Car would not turn off. Then replaced battery for $90.00 and drove into a parking lot across from NASCAR place in Charlotte, NC. The GUN SHOW of all times was there. I will never miss it again!

After a few hours, we returned and car would not crank. What? Tow back to SC. AAA thank you Charlotte. Now, peal $1300 big ones out of my pocket. ITs only $85 Times 3 for labor , $589 for module, $17.00 for the F80 and $39 for broken leaking rubber hose. That's it. My goodness gracious, I am sure glad I did not purchase that new $550 knife at show. Those 802 delivery miles sure look suspicious now. WHAT! Is this the beginning of my Ford in the shop story?Did you hear it, my broken back taking out all that money to pay for a car we have driven less than a year and 6 months. Good thing we paid it off early. We are going to pay big time now. The road noise is making me deaf. Tires ride like road warrior. Our original company Norris Ford in Pickens, SC went out of business. Now, I can get suspicious? my spouse in Dallas, Tx said just forget it. Does anyone out there know about this fix yet. I got the 09B10 recall also. What's up with this on my new car. I am driving our 1995 Ford explorer for over 300,000 miles and no major problems. Its not a noise maker. We have driven it from SC to TX over 16 times, never a stall. We just changed the oil every 3,000 and filter for years now. OH MY GOODNESS! Anyone heard of this type problem with 2008 Ford Escape? I sure would like to Escape this bill. I most surely pray that this is not the beginning of another recall. CAN you hear AMERICA screaming yet? Another recall of Ford Motor Company. The sales person said they had to call in the Ford Company experts to figure this one out. No one in two states, NC or SC had clue on this. We just took off the gas module, and undid one side of the new battery, while we attended the show, and the battery was DEAD when we returned a few hours later. Everyone said, that can't happen... it did . Does anyone want to buy this lemon? Its called Lt Sage Metallic ? Aaaaa, come on America! Won't you bail me out of this yet? I need to get to work and back. This is going to be fun driving Miss Daisy again in my 1995 RED Sports SUV. They just don't make 'em like they used to be. Too much computer modules and F80 fuse, and the rubber hose is absolutely no good. Was that caused by the dripping cooler fluid? Drip, drip and drip to they die. That's my story, what's you best guess where my $1300 vacation savings is going. Not Myrtle Beach guys!
