We were on the freeway at 11pm. Luckily I was merging to the slow lane and the dashboard suddenly had all the warning lights come on and I lost power including steering. I was able to pull to the safety zone and we were both rattled about it. It was a close call. Went to the Ford Dealer the next day, they replaced the cooling pump to the hybrid battery. I was surprised that there are no re-calls for this life threatening electrical breakdown. I was told it could potentially happen again in 50,000 miles.
I am leery about taking this car out on long trips and now always keep an eye out on the electrical performance status because there is no forewarning when this happens. I hope Ford can look into this and not wait until a major injury or death happens because of it.
