4 months ago while getting an oil change it was brought to my attention that i had a slow but substantial transmission fluid leak - i took it in to my preferred dealer (at the time) and learned that a cooling line needed to be replaced. this was under the manufacturer's warranty. fortunately, i thought it wise at the time to purchase an extended warranty. fortunate because about 6,000 miles outside of the manufacturer's warranty, my transmission began squeaking very quietly for only a second or two while accelerating to 42 mph. my preferred dealer did not resolve the noise, and instructed me to come back in 5 days when they could provide me with a rental car. during those 5 days while driving to work on the highway, the rpms dropped to about 1500 while going a steady 75 and the car started to vibrate fairly violently. i took my car to my newest preferred dealer and they could not resolve the issue without getting in touch with Ford's service line (3 days!!!). apparently, there have been several transmissions experiencing problems and my transmission is now completely out of my car while new gears and a catalytic converter are being installed. this is a brand new car and it has been serviced per the manufacturers recommendation. why is the transmission dying so young? anyone else having similar issues?
