CarComplaints.com Notes: You should probably steer clear of the 2012 Focus. Otherwise, you might not be able to steer at all.

The 2012 is the first Focus to offer Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). It's also the first year with massive power steering failure. These things are not mutually exclusive.

And while you wait for your steering to disappear, you'll be greeted with a transmission that shudders, vibrates or won't shift at all.

The air conditioner seems to blow hot air when I have it on outside vent air only. It's like I have it turned on heat. Also does it with the a/c on but get a blend of hot and cold air.

Focus SE 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission

The issue I started having was last Friday when I went to turn on my AC. I normally blast it on high on defrost so that I do not have to have hot air blowing in my face for the 5 or so minutes it takes to cool off. Alas there was a problem. Cue angry, grunting, snorting, cussing all while sitting in heavy traffic in the heat. The issue I was having was it would only blow on my feet and/or defrost. WTH? So I go to a Ford dealer today. It is the Blend Door Actuator that has failed. Chalk up yet another problem I have with this worthless, equity slurping hunk of junk! I have the extended warranty due to the fact that I ripped Ford a new one oh about 25,000 miles ago or so. I tried using it but was not told I would have to pay $100 for a deductible to get my AC fixed. I am beyond pissed. As a newish car that I have had since 35 miles I do not feel I should have to pay for this. The reason? ITS A 2 YEAR OLD CAR! If I want to pay for AC work I would have gotten a clunker! This car has been a headache since around 100 or 200 miles.

Update from Jul 28, 2014: By the way they rigged it until Ford can make me happy. Right now though if I move it to defrost I will lose AC on my dash again.

Update from Sep 2, 2014: They fixed the blend door actuator but guess what? It is broken again! Going today to the dealership to get it fixed yet again!
