Sigh...! After having my engine light suddenly come on today, my car started idling extremely rough at stops ( almost to the point of stalling ) and when I accelerate in drive.I did a search for a blinking engine light and come across this page describing the symptoms of my problem to a T, just wanted to add my voice to the crowd. Nissan really needs to do something, I will not be going anywhere near their products again...

Altima GXE 2.4L

I have bee dealing with check engine light coming on for approx 2 yrs now .I brought it to my local Mechanics and only code it would come up with was burning lean .I've had this code reset so many times It's sickening .I searched on Internet and saw problem with Intake manifold for 2nd gen altimas .Replaced plugs ,cap, rotor added fuel injection cleaner .Car started to sputter and light backfire around sept 09 code still reading lean .

I told mechanic to put on big computer and said showed sensor (rear) He replaced and then it said front oxygen sensor (replaced) car was still sputtering and I've had enough .went to another mechanic and he found the leak by spraying around Intake manifold ..His cost will be $300.00 However I actually spent another $300.00 because

my local mechanics were lost ...I'm ticked off and hoping this won't go anytime soon again ..This should be a recall Issue ...I've loved this car now I'm not sure I can trust it .Last mechanic that diagnosed the problem is charging me $300.00 but I feel I should be reimbursed the other $300.00 of troubleshooting at previous garage (mechanic) It actually goes in to be fixed 01/08/09..

Altima GLE

  • Automatic transmission

The car was shaking annoyingly at the red lights and whenever the car idles. Took it a dealer who diagnosed the problem as "intake gasket leak" and charged me a total of $890. I guess it is way too much compared to the other posts that I read here in the forums.

Altima GXE 2.4L V4

Car was running rough at an idle and shaking so I took it into the mechanic. $1700 (600 for the intake manifold and 1100 for new injectors) the car is supposedly going to be fixed. It sounds like the 2000-2001 models are having a lot of problems with this as well.
