Replaced the right side motor mount after finding out that it could crack the manifold that had been replaced. Very Inconveneient. Had to take time off work and caused unexpected expenses.

Altima LS 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

Had to replace right side motor mount, after replacing the manifold. Did not want to have to replace another manifold, because it would eventually crack. Had to take time off work and had unexpected expenses. Have the receipts to prove it.

Altima

  • Manual transmission
  • 70,000 miles

I noticed that my car was making a rattling/knocking sound. I took it to be checked and found out the front and rear motor mounts are bad and need to be replaced. This car only has 70,000 miles on it and there is a defect if the motor mounts are going bad this early.

Definitely wasn't expecting to have to change the motor mount (passenger side) at under 60k miles. Purchased part for $100, paid another $100 to install.

Altima 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,000 miles

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima, I have changed the alternator in 2009 and a motor mount that was broken in 2010, one Nissan dealership stated that I should have replaced all four motor mounts instead of one at that time. I know have another motor mount that is broken and my car vibrates and makes a noise as well, when I put my AC on it get worse and the vibration gets stronger. This is my first Nissan and my last due to all the problems I am having with this vechicle.

Altima 2.5S 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 83,600 miles

I am the original owner of a 2005 Nissan Altima and live in CA. I have driven this car everywhere in every possible terrain (across state lines, through all of Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe and manyyyyyy different ski resorts etc).

I am thorough in taking care of all regular maintenance issues and the car has not been in any major accident. It has, however, been in small bumper accidents (ie. another car bumped me in the parking lot while she was parking and other minor bumper accidents).

The past several months, I have noticed that the car jerks when I shift from first to second gear. This has caused me to be more gentle in the acceleration. Today, the dealer said that my right side motor mount is broken.

My question is, how often does this occur? Also, why and how did it occur? I am a defensive driver. Although I speed now and then, I am not 'heavy-footed.'

My previous car was a mid 90s base model corolla with about 180k miles on it when I sold it, and I had never had this problem with that car. Since I first purchased my Altima, I have noticed that I have many minor issues with the car (ie. rubber lining on the hood came off while driving through a car wash a few months after purchasing the car). Fortunately, they are not major performance or safety problems, however, after spending this much money on a brand new car, I expect NOT to have any such issues because they are time consuming to fix. And the extra expenses, although minor, are still extra expenses.

Thanks.

Altima S

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Ridiculous that this could happen when a car is only three years old. All highway miles, no bumpy roads, and the PART THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE IN PLACE goes bad. Firestone says it's a common problem, Nissan, however denies any knowledge. Jerks.

Altima SL 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

Why am I having this issue at 63,000 miles? The dealer said there are three of these and one went bad. I think this shouldn't be happening since I've only driven this car 30,000 miles since I bought it.

Altima SL 2.5L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

When I would drive and hit a bump in the road I'd hear a big rattling thud coming from the front end of the car. Unable to figure out exactly where it came from, I took the car to the dealership and paid them $45 to diagnose it. They determined that my front right motor mount was bad and wanted $300 to replace. I instead purchased the part for $95 and and paid a mechanic $90 to put it on. Problem solved although I think 70,000 miles is a bit early for motor mounts to be a problem. Seems that other owners are having this same problem although no recall has been made: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/nissan_altima.html
