Driver side door lock does not unlock from inside the car using door handle or lock/unlock button in dash or fob unlock button. Inability to open doors in the case of fire, accident, or emergency can cause injuries or death to driver. BMW discontinue the part numbers for driver and passenger side and suggest in the service manual in case of front doors locks failure (either one or both doors) to replace driver and passenger side door lock laches with new part numbers. Old part numbers 51217202143 and 51217202146; new part numbers 51217229458 and 51217229455.

My 2006 BMW 325I has dashboard warning lights that continue to come up after much time & effort has been spent to get them fixed. The airbag warning light, the seat belt warning light, & the flat tire monitor warning light have caused much stress & frustration due to the issues not being addressed after multiple attempts with the dealership as well as other independent companies. I am worried that if an accident does occur that my safety will be in great danger & this is something that every car owner understands. I am at a loss at this point & do not want to continue to spend countless dollars when the ends do not justify the mean.

Vehicle is equiped with automatic folding rear view mirrors. While parked the vehicle's right view mirror folded itself in the most forward position. Now the driver (me) is inable to use the right view mirror. This is definitely a safety hazard. BMW is aware of this problem in many of their vehicles, but their own solution is to replace the entire mirror at the cost of the owner. This is a hefty $750 charge not including installation. BMW should take ownership of this problem and fix the issue at no cost to the customer. This is an issue that requires immediat intervention to prevent an avoidable accident.

I started the car and got a 'personal restraint system failure' message. I've checked message boards for BMW and apparently this is something they issued a recall for a few years back but now it shows 'no recall' when I type in my VIN. According to the message boards, others with the same message were told initially by BMW that this wasn't a recall but when pushed were told it was and it was fixed. I'm wondering about getting something about these recalls from your Agency before going to argue with the BMW dealership?

I was driving from school and push the gas and 15mph the car jerked in transmission light came on. The car went into safe mode. I could not drive over 40 mp. The dealer ship said the transmission mechatronic may have malfunction. Something inside of the transmission the manufacturer build it with a plastic valve cover it's common on BMW the transmission failure. There are over 67,000 complaints on line for the same issue. Where is the recall!. you pay for this expensive car to pay 7000 to fix. I am looking to start a law suit if they don't recall and fix this common expensive problem!

4/27/2015, 4:00 am the car is sitting within 6 feet of my house and my husband and I awoke to an explosion. The BMW was on fire from under the hood and burning out of control. The car has been parked inside our garage since 4/25/2015 and it was only moved about 100 feet on 4/27/15. This vehicle has had zero modifications or repairs. The BMW's motor and front end of the car is completely destroyed and the vehicle is totaled. Our home would have been destroyed had I not used 4 fire extinguishers and a water hose on the car and house until the fire department arrived. Online there are numerous BMW owners with this complaint either the vehicle was sitting and some people were even driving them when they caught fire. Obviously there is an issue with some of the BMW's that are causing fires and putting peoples lives at risk. This BMW was my husbands and wasn't fully insured and I have a BMW that I loved until this incident and I am extremely fearful of driving now. I believe this should be a major concern for all BMW drivers to have this investigated and someone held accountable for the issues the BMW's are having. I would really like to know the statistics for BMW's that have filed fire complaints.

To whom it may concern: I am very frustrated with a current problem involving our 2004 BMW 325 ci (convertible) and the auto dimming rear view mirror. Our vehicle id is PL32177. The mirror has leaked releasing the corrosive acidic material used in the mirror. In 2004 the BMW technology booklet hi-lighted the auto-dimming mirror advantage, "innovative technology frees you from having to reach up and reset the mirror's dimming mode manually.......represents yet another contribution to driving safety". I now understand this problem has occurred to far too many BMW owners and that BMW is not standing behind its contribution to driving safety. Why wasn't a recall made when this problem was first identified. The corrosive material leaked onto the passenger leather bucket seat and the center console eating away the material. Our BMW dealer, rockville BMW, wants to charge $585 to replace the mirror, $200 to replace the console area and then gave us a phone number for someone in Virginia to discuss fixing the leather bucket seat. We love our BMW, (even have a second 2010 BMW 325xi) and do not understand why this is not covered by a recall as a warranty issue. BMW has known of this problem for years and never notified car owners that this issue could cause severe damage when it occurs. The car barely has 39,000 miles, is garage kept and was purchased in May 2004. The auto dimming rear view mirror is now a safety hazard as it blurs everything that is in the rear view mirror. I look forward to your assistance to resolve this problem. Please let me know if you need any further information. Car only has 63,000 miles. The aluminum bolts for the valve cover and the head bolts sheared off while driving. Stopped at a red light and car starts to shake, check engine sign lights, oil sign lights, once I gave it gas. Oil is leaking from car. Car is towed and mechanic shows me damage. Broken aluminum bolts fell inside of engine. Bolt is wedged between timing chain and gear. The engine is destroyed. Known defect for 2006 models, but BMW North America will not cover damage. Have called BMW North America three times now. BMW switched bolt type in following years. Others reporting same problem. Safety hazard. What if I was on a busy highway when my car stopped? car will never be the same. BMW needs to admit to their mistake and cover the damages. A recall should be put in place for the bolts. Just ridiculous that a company known for quality will do this to their customers. I hope the dot takes it upon themselves to hold BMW accountable. Others with the same problem, please email me at [xxx]. looking for a potential resolution. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Front passenger seat belt light and airbag light stay on even when a passenger is seated in car. BMW diagnosed a problem with the passenger seat occupancy mat. This is the same problem as the 2008 recall, but my model is not included in the recall. I spoke with the office of the president of BMW who says that they are not responsible since my car was not involved in the recall. They said it is a different part that was responsible for the mat not working properly. I feel that since my car has the same safety problem, even if it is a different part, it should be fixed by BMW without cost to me.

I was driving my 2006 BMW M3 convertible with the top down and secured on the highway. When, all of a sudden the rear boot cover which stores the convertible roof opens on it's own and slams against the roof, which I was driving on the freeway. The thump and air resistance almost caused me to loose control of my vehicle, but I was able to get off the freeway. The complete convertible mechanism was not functioning after this event, and I brought it to the nearest BMW dealership which is where I purchased my vehicle to begin with. After a day or so, I was told I had to come to the dealership and drive the vehicle home because they had to have a factory rep inspect the vehicle and it would take up to a few weeks. Not until I called BMW customer relations, did they say it was a mistake by the technician and that I would be able to leave my vehicle at the dealership and get a rental car. On Aug 3, 2007 a little over a week from the event, I was told that they would not cover this repair under warranty, and did not state why? I began to mention how I nearly lost control of my vehicle, and it was an obvious malfunction, and I insisted they send me documentation which stated why they did not believe the vehicle was covered under warranty. The service manager continued to waffle back and forth, and did not send me the proper paperwork but said he would contact me by the end of day or the following Monday because he was going to have another factory rep take a look at the vehicle.
