Fuel tank leak. Car started smelling like gas. Noticed after pumping gas - gas starting pouring / leaking out of fuel tank in daughters car on left side. Took to shop, said entire fuel tank and was told entire tank with fuel hose pipe would need to be replaced due to crack in tank / fuel pipe. Shop said should not be happening and is probably faulty. Expensive repair, BMW should recall the 3 series along with the other fuel tank / fuel systems that they recalled for the 5 and 7 series. Extremely dangerous and hazardous for these to be on the road.

I was driving on a busy highway and the vehicle randomly stalled and lost power. Drivetrain malfunction trouble lights lit up the dash. I was barely able to get out of traffic before coasting to a stop. I had the vehicle towed to BMW South austin and it was diagnosed with a faulty fuel transfer pump, and a faulty fuel tank. Essentially I had run out of fuel with 1/4 tank showing on the gauges. BMW denied my request to repair the vehicle under warranty, even though there is an extended warranty on the "in tank fuel pump". I guess people need to die in traffic when they run out of fuel unsuspectingly for BMW to care or issue a recall.

The 3 series BMW's were not included in the recall 16V-746 for fuel leak even though the 5 and 7 series have the same fuel pump. My car is leaking gas which is extremely dangerous to my family and others. I have read countless accounts online of the same issue with other owners of the 3 series. A problem of this magnitude should have been included in the original recall.

The contact owns a 2012 BMW 328I. The contact stated that there was a fuel leak under the vehicle that progressed without warning. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed by a dealer. The manufacturer was aware of the failure and issued a recall for other year and models, but excluded this model year. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

"takaya recall" I was driving my car (in motion) on the highway (BMW 328I 2012) when suddenly a message appeared on the display screen stating "fuel supply malfunction" after reading the message the car suddenly stalled in the middle of the road. I turned my hazards on and attempted to start the car, but it would turn over. After waiting 10 minutes with my car completely turn off, it finally started. The same thing happened to me several times and most recently today 08/31/2017 on the streets. It was really scary ordeal because the other drivers had to suddenly brake! my car is only 5 years old and well maintained, so this problem shouldn't be happening.

My husband and I were driving home from la to Nevada. On the freeway between barstow and baker, the car suddenly stopped on the left side of the freeway. Warning light appeared but disappeared so fast that we did not get a chance to read what it was saying, only the last part which I think said engine failure. It did not give us a chance to look for a safer place to stop. From driving at 75 mph, my husband was able to drive it to a nearby left shoulder, which was very narrow that incoming cars started to honk because we were not really parked inside the space. I had to call our insurance for tow service while cars were driving 75-80 mph. After an hour, the tow truck came but could not hook us up because of the position we were in and cars coming in so fast. The tow truck had to call the California highway patrol for help. So we were left again (tow truck had to go back to wait for the chp). This was a very scary situation (we had to leave the car to avoid being hit by the fast, incoming vehicles). We were lucky that we were not hit but it was a close call. Chp came and the tow truck brought us home. The dealer was closed because it was a Sunday. I had to call another tow company on Monday to bring it to the dealer. The dealer said it did not have communication with the fuel pump module which was different from what the warning indication showed. (but as I mentioned earlier, it was a short notice that I think it said "engine failure"). we had the impression that bmws are supposed to give the driver enough warning but in this case, it did not happen. We are afraid to drive for more than 300 or less miles because it might stop again in the middle of the freeway. That is an accident we do not want to be in.

August 6, 2016 - car stalled at about 50mph, just when about to go uphill. I wasn't able to make it to the shoulder leaving the car blocking traffic with my wife and daughter in it. Once it stops, it puts itself in park, making it impossible to push aside. We created a traffic jam and police barricaded while we were trying to move the car. Eventually, in about 30 mins, the car turns on. Happened after an hour of highway driving. Car seemed fine after that. August 17, 2016 - on another long trip, the car stalled on the highway. Would crank but not turn on. Almost exhausted the battery. Called a tow truck but by the time it got there, after about an hour, the car restarted. Had my odb-II scanner with me and got code used my obdii reader and got code P142E - pressure too low in high-pressure system, which is consistent with not starting and the and the fuel system malfunction message. I took the car to autogermana service center, that same day. September 22, 2016 - stalled on a main road, with my daughter, on the way to the pediatrician. I was able to maneuver to the right lane and park on a gas station. Ambient temp was 94F. Waited about 30mins and the car re-started. The dealeship would not acknowledge a fuel system problem because they could not replicate the failure. Sent email to BMW customer relations but they referred me back to the dealership.

I was driving on a very busy road in downtown Chicago in heavy traffic and the car just suddenly stalled without any warning middle of the road and won't move. Of course came close to being crashed from behind. I am grateful and lucky that the cars behind were able to stop in time and maneuver around me to avoid collision. The BMW dealer inspected the car and told me that the fuel pump and its control unit is faulty. I have attached their diagnosis as well. I find it hard to believe that a less than 4 year old car with under 25K miles on it has a fuel pump failure, unless it was faulty to begin with. I checked into the recalls for BMW 328I models for faulty fuel pumps and it seems BMW recalled models from 2014, but it seems the 2012 BMW has this issue as well. I was saved but I want to make sure no one else is hurt because of faulty parts that car manufacturers fail to check before selling it to unsuspecting consumers, who think they are safe when driving these expensive cars with their families and precious ones in it. I shudder to think what could have happened and I consider myself lucky to be still alive, safe and ok to write this message.

Sudden complete loss of power while underway on interstate 476 North of philadelphia. Car stopped in the middle of 4 lanes of high speed traffic at 4:10 pm.it would not restart. There was no warning of an issue prior. I am sole operator of car. Car was in dealers shop for 7 days. No obvious cause found, but Bosch coils replaced as a precaution. 300 miles later on May 26, at approx 5:20 pm the car again w/O warning had sudden complete loss of power; would not restart.
