I was driving my car getting on the freeway and the electrical system came on stating " engine temperature, engine temperature is high. Drive moderately to cool the engine. If temperature increases again. Have the system checked by your BMW dealer ship." I recently purchased this car on 6/9/2014 on the 30th day the car had this issue with me. The car turned off 4 times with me as I tried to drive back home. My 2008 BMW 335I series was purchased with only 60,000 miles on it. I need to know if this is recall so I can take it in..been doing some research and seen that alot of BMW customers are having the same issues but years ago.... I need help cause when I called the dealership they look up the VIN # and say there is no recall on this car.... help I don't know what to do"????" I been back and forth with Chrysler in clovis ca where I purchased the car and they want to charge me $1500....

Noticed an unusual engine vibration. Went to my mechanic who inspected vehicle. Pointed out broken motor mount bolts. His comment I have seen several of these over the years. The bolts are made from aluminum -- they break. Said he this was an ongoing and well known issue with BMW from that year and 2009. Said BMW would not cover it. He also stated the car had no visible signs of damage, to undercarriage that would suggest any damage. He said it just happens, and a lot of people have complained to BMW, all to no avail. Instead of beamers... they should call this car a bummer. It is an very expensive problem, created by poor engineering and manufacturing. Aluminum bolts holding an engine.

Adaptive head light system failure while driving down the interstate. This is the third time the unit had been replaced within 4 years and under 65K miles. Every time this was a non aggravated issue and not covered by the dealer. Furthermore, while driving the car around a corner at a moderate rate of speed I noticed the car making an abnormal noise. Upon pulling over and inspecting further, it was found to be a shredded belt which had thrown itself everywhere inside the engine bay. Once it was towed to be repaired, it was discovered that the power steering pulley contacted the front bar and, breaking the pulley in half, causing it to have sharp edges which directly cut the belt in half and resulted in the belt being wrapped around the pulley and various engine components. There is not enough clearance as a result of a factory/manufacturer defect and now I am out on the bill.

As an example, when attempting to accelerate the vehicle onto a moving traffic situation the car hesitates/lags/delays before the engine catches, then it takes off like a rabbit when you don't expect it. This vehicle behavior has caused near miss accidents more than once when I was driving. It's not a delay which decreases a transient surge. It increases the transient surge as the car does not respond to the throttle for a half second then bolts forward with an awkward lurch and a slam. It's much rougher than a normal takeoff would be. It's not at all smooth. Some have described it as being rear-ended. The has been happening since I purchased the car in November 2010 many BMW owners have reported the problem to BMW as I have. The answer I got as well as many others from BMW was, "it's normal".

I was driving vehicle on 295 near hamilton NJ and while accelerating the car lost power. The car was not responses and when I would try to press accelerator the car and steering wheel shook violently. The service engine light came on. The speed rapidly decreased and put me in very dangerous situation. I was very lucky that I was able to put hazard lights on and pull to shoulder. I turned car off and restarted and the car, the service engine light turned off and I immediately dropped car off at dealer.

Noticed the water coolant light come on. After taking it to BMW, they said the water pump was leaking. Wanted to replace it for a nice piece of change. Poor part design. They should have a recall on the pump.

I was driving on the highway at about 70 miles an hour when the engine just suddenly stopped. While the car was slowing down I have to pull over and restart the car. Then after driving for another 10 min the engine stopped again this time I didn't have time to pull over and stopped in the middle of a highway. I have to keep trying before it restarted. I stopped at a gas station and was afraid to drive it again. Finally without a choice after an hour I started the car back up and was able to drive back home.

While driving on the freeway at approximately 75 miles/hr, the engine suddenly dropped down speed drastically (felt like someone down shifted the car) and started to shake and rumble. Try to step on the gas, but the car won't respond in speeding car; try to step on the break, the car won't stop either. Completely lost control of the car for about 5 seconds. Then, the car suddenly shifted back it it's normal gear and was able to drive normally. Read the temperature of the engine oil, the temperature was on "0". this is the 2nd incident.

This incident has happened before while my car was still under warranty. There was a recall on this issue, . however, I only come to know about the recall when the problem existed. I would check with your service adviser because BMW seems to be hiding this issue! this is the 1st incident after bringing in my car for similar issue and 2nd time happening to my car. Driving down the street at about 15 miles/hr and stopped at a red light. The car started shaking when I pressed on the gas and wouldn't move forward smoothly; felt like a car breaking down. Drive about 1 block down (to the next light), the car is still shaking and can't doesn't move. The car continue to shake viciously as I was parked at a red light, so I decided to turn away from main street to stop. The car didn't really move, just glided. Stopped the car completely and restarted it. After restarting the car, the car was back to normal.

This is the 1st incident. Driving like usual, up a hill at approximately 45 miles per hour then let go of gas and brake to let the car go down the hill itself. Suddenly, the car sounded like it has shifted and at the same time speed up by itself. Thought I switched to manual drive, so try to switch back, but no switches was mad. Try to step on the brake, the car would not stop. So, try to switch from auto to manual drive, car still has no reaction. Step on the brake forcefully to have the car stop. Thank goodness this was late at night so no car was behind or in front of me.

Vehicle lost power while on the highway, appears to be an engine malfunction. Took to BMW dealership and they replaced the fuel pump, however problem still occurs. Unfortunately, the warranty has just expired so I had to pay out of pocket. It appears many individuals have had the same issues with this particular yr, make & model so unsure of why BMW has not issued a recall to address the problem. This absolutely should be looked at by the manufacturer as from my experience with it occurring on the highway it can definitely cause an accident.
