The contact owns a 2015 BMW X3. The contact stated that while the family was sitting inside the vehicle with the engine idling, there was smoke coming from underneath the hood. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed with an EGR valve failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number 21V907000 (Fuel System, Diesel) for which the VIN was included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000. (RECALLRELATED INCIDENT)
